Dear friends, donors, local partners and Fundación del Valle team:
It is a pleasure for me to present the 2016 Activities Report. In spite of the difficulties that we have gone through these past few years, thanks, to all those who collaborate with us, for nearly three decades we continue to work on behalf of children, youth and women.
Furthermore, the NGO Coordinator for Development in Spain has once again recognised our high standards of Transparency and Good Governance practices, renewing our certification in this area.
I summarize the fruit of our work in our various areas of intervention:
• In Cooperation for Development throughout 2016, our work with local partners and other agents has resulted in over 18,175 direct beneficiaries through the implementation of 15 development projects in 9 countries. We emphasize this second year the implementation of the AECID Convention in El Salvador, for the prevention of violence through the strengthening of the educational system. In this report, you will find detailed information of each and every one of these projects.
• With regard to Educational Projects for Women, in addition to the work with local youth associations, the Foundation has expanded its sphere of activity in Europe with the addition of new partner countries such as Finland, Estonia, Croatia, Lithuania and Latvia. Thus, through our programme Welcome to Europe funded by Erasmus+, we have consolidated the transnational cooperation between youth organizations and the development of permanent learning programmes promoted by the European Union.
• In the field of Corporate Volunteering, the Antennas for Educational Development programme continues sharing the knowledge of volunteers from companies with beneficiaries in developing countries.
I should like to conclude by thanking the participation and support of all the people who have taken part in our various fundraising events, where we have the opportunity to share great moments of solidarity.
I thank once again our benefactors, the Board and all the Fundación del Valle friends who have made these projects a reality.
With warmest regards,
LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
Cristina Rubio Basabe

COOPERATION FOR DEVELOPMENT
16 | FUNDACIÓN DEL VALLE. ANNUAL REPORT 2016
FUNDACIÓN DEL VALLE AND ITS PARTNERS are developing a long-term joint strategy to ensure the education and the professional and social integration of disadvantaged youth and women.
PROJECTS
FUNDACIÓN DEL VALLE. ANNUAL REPORT 2016 | 17
Fundación del Valle and its partners are developing a long-term joint strategy whose ob-jective is to ensure the right to education, achieve the professional and social integration of disadvantaged youth and women living in the most affected areas by crime and violence in El Salvador. In recent decades, women and youth have shown a greater commitment to enter the job market, motivated by the desire to improve their education and the need to earn an income for them and their families in the face of the poverty conditions in which they live. However, the majority lack the necessary skills, resulting in low paid work under poor conditions.
To carry out its strategy in El Salvador, Fundación del Valle works with highly specialised lo-cal entities with extensive experience in our priority sectors: Fundación Siramá, Asociación CIDEP and Asociación CORDES. Since 2001, FdV has implemented 24 jointly projects.

In Guatemala, the horizon of women is limited to roles within the home. The originality and impact of the work developed by FUNDAP consists in “sowing” in them the desire to learn a trade, the yearning to seek new perspectives and the willingness to improve their life conditions and the future of their children.
In response to the earthquake in the West, we are still collaborating with FUNDAP and ACTEC in the reconstruction of a Technical and Business Training Centre for young people and women in San Marcos, in which more than 550 women are trained every year.
With these two NGOS we are implementing a business acceleration program, microMBA, based on essential practices for the development of skills, enhancing business decision-making, financial analysis, and managerial thought.
We continue to support the schooling of girls through the FUNDAP Scholarship Program for Girls.

These programmes are also addressed at the families of the beneficiaries, with leisure activities and family counselling, that favour the transmission of fundamental values and social harmony between parents, children and other families.
Additionally, Fundación del Valle encourages the promotion of volunteering with the underprivileged, the sick and the elderly.
We do this at the Valdeperales Association, retirement homes, in hospitals and palliative care centres. The purpose of this activity is to raise awareness among young people in social reality and to promote an active and responsible participation in society.
In 2016, Red Solidaria Bankia has funded the project They are close to you with 8,067 euros to prevent social exclusion of children from disadvantaged backgrounds and in risk of antisocial attitudes and behaviors so that they acquire emotional well-being and personal autonomy. To this end, the project has developed the following activities: study support workshops, tutoring for children and young people, social skills workshops, sports, leisure and free time activities and school for parents. The expected results have been: social inclusion of children and young people at risk of exclusion, prevention of school dropout and participation in healthy leisure activities.

ACTIVITIES IN OTHER COUNTRIES
The European Commission, in the framework of the 2016 Erasmus+ programme, has funded three projects:
Welcome to Europe: Three countries of the European Union, Poland, Slovenia and Spain, formalise a Strategic Cooperation Partnership for the innovation and exchange of good practices with the priority of promoting high quality work for young people and encourage inclusive youth education and training.
The project associates three entities who work with young people with fewer opportunities, including refugees, to share their experience with the aim of promoting high quality work for young people that responds to the needs of the most disadvantaged through new methodologies that encourage these young people to participate in educational programmes that promote their social and labour inclusion.
The beneficiaries of this project are 24 workers of the three participating entities that work with 60 young people with fewer opportunities due to educational, social and economic shortcomings, including refugees in search of asylum.
Be in Europe: It is a mobility project for young people in which two member
countries of the European Union participate, Spain and Croatia. The main activity is a youth exchange in which 28 young people work on an activities programme, designed by themselves, which will be carried out in Madrid, with the purpose of fostering the development of fundamental values to model a more inclusive society and social solidarity.
Europe works for you to work: It is a strategic partnership between three entities of three member countries of the EU, Spain, Finland and Estonia. It is an institutional project in which organizations interchange practices and experience with the aim of promoting high quality work which responds to the needs of young people in search of employment through new methodologies that promote the required training for today’s labour market.
In Italy, Fundación del Valle continues to work with Assocciacione Fontana Nuova in Rome, dedicated to providing women students from around the world humanistic education and a broad professional training programme with the objective that when these women return to their countries they contribute by improving training quality for thousands of women in said countries.
At international level, in 2016 the Foundation extends its activity area in Europe with the addition of new partner countries such as Finland, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia. The entity reinforces the transnational cooperation between youth organizations and encourages the involvement of young people between the ages of 13 and 30 years of age in the permanent learning programmes promoted by the European Union, with the aim of promoting multiculturalism and access to the international labour market.

Our flagship corporate volunteerism programme.
It is an innovative project to transfer the knowledge of expert volunteers to key groups in developing countries. The Educational Programme “Antennas for Development” is part of the overall objective of youth training, integration into the labour market, awareness raising and the promotion of volunteerism.
The Educational Antennas Programme allows professionals from Spain to transmit their knowledge to respond to training needs identified in our beneficiaries in the countries where we work.
We train people (teachers, students, professionals and entity managers) with the objective of improving their skills.
The training is carried out by videoconferencing, educational videos and other materials. These videos are hosted on an online platform to which the beneficiaries of the courses have access.

EL SALVADOR The training needs were identified jointly by Fundación del Valle and the Salvadoran partner CIDEP that is currently running a project of Spanish Cooperation for the prevention of youth violence and insertion in the labour market of this segment.
COMPANIES:
MDTEL
Thanks to the collaboration of MDTEL
90 young people from the Specialised School in Engineering ITCA located in the department of La Libertad in El Salvador have been trained.
They were trained in network instal-lation.
FEUVERT
The joint work of FdV and FEUVERT has implemented training modules in mechanical engineering for the young Salvadorans. This sector has a high labour demand.
GUATEMALAWith FUNDAP we focus in supporting their educational quality programme. Work has been done with 2º Grade of Teaching in the Comillas University. They have analyzed the standardised tests of the Ministry of Education and have helped us to design a Training Plan for Primary School Teachers so they can develop the necessary capabilities to improve knowledge in the students when teaching multiplication.
Students in Guatemala have great difficulties in the management of the four basic operations and understanding the daily life problems, the greater difficulty is in third, fourth, fifth and sixth grades.
The shortcomings in mathematics teaching of the schools that we work with are:
• Development of logical thinking• Multiplication (perhaps is the
biggest gap in school performance)• Division• Rule of Three• Measurement Conversions
The training is aimed at active teachers in Guatemala that, having received a very basic training and have teaching experience their pedagogical and knowledge levels are limited.
The characteristics of the beneficiaries students of the programme are the following:
• Members of large families and of limited resources
• Students of primary education cycle.
• Members of rural area schools.
• A high percentage are natives.
• Residents of humble houses.
• They are at risk of dropping out of school because their families cannot provide the necessary resources.
• 9 to 16 years old.
The implementation of this programme has been made possible thanks to the funding of the Solidarity Talent of Botín Foundation which is an awareness programme funded by the AECID.

CHRISTMAS 2016
We had our solidarity Christmas sale with our new selection.
Thanks to the copyright donation of several works from the Thyssen museums in Madrid and Malaga, we have been able to offer a catalog of great beauty and elegance.
In a few days customers have their Christmas cards ready.
SOLIDARITY AFTERWORKS
In November 2016, we collaborated in the organization of the solidarity cocktail for the MONKOLE Hospital Centre. It was held at Las Bridas Bar in Madrid.
We also supported the charity events organised by TANDEM Global through Afterworks.
FUNDACIÓN DEL VALLE FRIENDS COCKTAIL
We assembled our donors, partners and friends on the terrace of the hotel VP Jardín de Recoletos to share and report the activities that we have carried out.
In addition to listening to our President and General Manager, through a young Salvadoran woman we obtained an in-depth knowledge about the reality of young people of that country.
Also, volunteers from the MDTEL company told about their experiences at having participated in our Corporate Educational Antennas volunteerism Programme.
During the cocktail tickets for the charity raffle were sold and at the end of the same great gifts were awarded, once again donated by our sponsors.
GOLF TOURNAMENTS
For the first time, we celebrated our golf tournament in the RACE golf club, where 102 players participated on a sunny summer day. There were cold drinks courtesy of Coca-Cola Spain and snacks for the players throughout the field thanks to another donor.
We managed a record in the sale of the solidarity raffle, where we gave great gifts donated by our unconditional sponsors.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors and friends, each year they donate the cups and trophies for the winners.
In September, for one more year, the RSHECC golf club welcomed our Tournament, which turned out to be a success.
