We live in a digital age, where information is fast paced and consumption even faster. While the Girl Scout program is as relevant today as it was 100 years ago, we worked throughout last year to bring our infrastructure into the 21st century.
In 2015 we offered new ways for girls and volunteers to join and participate. We introduced Volunteer Toolkit, an online tool designed to help troops communicate and stay organized. We began preparing for the launch of Digital Cookie for the 2016 Cookie Program, making Girl Scout cookies available for purchase online. After implementing our new membership system, we experienced our highest percentage of renewals to date—8 percent growth for girls (12,989) and 9 percent growth for adults (3,809) in early registration.
Because of your support, we were able to implement new technologies to support and promote a unique program that continues to withstand the test of time. There’s still no place else a girl can find the type of experiences that Girl Scouts offers. Thank you for helping us provide opportunities for girls to make friends, try new things, discover their passions, and reach their fullest potential in a safe, positive space.
Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.
GIRL SCOUT PROMISE On my honor, I will try: To serve God and my country, To help people at all times, And to live by the Girl Scout Law.
GIRL SCOUT LAW I will do my best to be honest and fair, friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous and strong, and responsible for what I say and do, and to respect myself and others, respect authority, use resources wisely, make the world a better place, and be a sister to every Girl Scout.

Girl Scouting’s Highest AwardsThe Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards
are a Girl Scout’s chance to make a lasting
difference in her community and the world.
HADIYA HARRIGAN was selected by Girl Scouts of the USA as one of the 2015 National Young Women of Distinction, the highest honor in Girl Scouting, for her Gold Award project, Computer Programming Handbook & Modules.
When Hadiya Harrigan discovered that computer programming jobs might soon be outsourced overseas due to lack of technology training in the U.S., she took action with her Gold Award project. Using knowledge she gained as a member of the Cincinnati Black Data Processing Associates (BDPA) high school competition team, she developed computer programming and web development resources to give others the opportunity to learn these useful skills. After researching text book formats, creating an outline of topics for each lesson, and recruiting BDPA members and students to help write and test lesson plans, she published a free handbook and modules online for anyone interested in enhancing their technology training. Her materials are also used as additional materials for the BDPA Camp held annually at Cincinnati State.
