2018 Annual Goals- Areas of Focus -

Excellence Goals Work collaboratively with the schools involved in the Wellington

Catholic Community of Learning Evidence: CoL established, common goals set and 2019 will be a positive year.

Year 5-8 Student Wellbeing survey. Evidence: Completed, analysed, goals and targets set to address discrepancies, lessons provided.

Set student achievement targets Evidence: Parent conferences, Tier 1 and Tier 2 students, IEP’s, goals setting.

Further refine and embed the RAP (Raising Achievement Plan), in particular the Action Plans for Priority Learners. Evidence: A positive year of embedding further last years’ BoT review.

Teachers will take part in Professional Learning Development (PLD) that focuses on their identified needs or on school wide focus areas. Evidence: Ongoing throughout the year.

2018’s Focus Areas

Catholic Character Goals Develop opportunities for affirming and celebrating diverse cultures within our

school. Evidence: Parent Consultations, Te Reo, Electives, Kapa Haka, St Benedict’s Day, Newsletter Greetings, Cultural Day, National country days.

Review and update school documentation and curriculum statements in Religious Education to ensure they align with current practices and reflect the requirements of the curriculum. Evidence: Completed prior to Catholic Character visit – evidence in successful report.

Take part in professional development opportunities, both within the school and externally about the changes being introduced to the Religious Education Curriculum through the Religious Education Bridging Document. Evidence: PLD Courses with the ADW in staff meetings, lesson observations, CoL meetings with other Catholic Primary Schools.

2018’s Focus Areas

Communication:

Carry out consultation with our Maori community around plans for student achievement. Evidence: Term 1 parent consultation, Te Reo lessons, Kapa Haka instructors, priority learners (targets and goals).

Actively promote the school to Catholic families throughout the schools catchment area (state schools, kindergartens, preschools). Evidence: Kindergarten visits made – cancelled the Open Day in Term 3. Featured in several newspaper articles.

School weekly Newsletter changes implemented (Mail Chimp). Evidence: New newsletter platform

School Website changes and updates implemented. Evidence: Website current,,Google Calendar up to date.

2018’s Focus Areas

School Environment:

Complete work identified in Minor Maintenance. Evidence: External stairwell treads, seating, on-going running repairs, signage, dead-heading trees, electrical checks

Build a vegetable garden area for the Enviro Team/students and a concrete pad for the rubbish bin on the right-hand side of the driveway (as per school development plan). Evidence: Completed + Working Bee, staging, art work, Values’ pencils

Develop the grotto/quiet space between the Main and Tui Blocks. Evidence: Garden completed, seating area to be completed.

Plant garden areas and back bank area around the school. Evidence: HoK funds –back and side banks completed.

Ensure significant hazards and health and safety issues are identified and dealt with in a timely way. Evidence: Ongoing.

Work with the ADW to address seismic strengthening required for the school. Evidence: Completed.

Replace the fence on top of the retaining area outside Room 4 (ADW 10 Year Plan approved for 2017). Evidence: Completed.

Address the eroding bank issue that is undermining the driveway. Evidence: A work in progress! ADW + WCC

2018’s Focus Areas

• New carpet in the library

• New vinyl and carpet in Rooms 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12.

• New vinyl on the internal stairwell and corridors

• One heatpump replaced: Room 8

• New lost property storage boxes

• New shelving for all reading resources (outside Rooms 4 and 12).

Thanks to Challenge 2000, the teachers and students.

2018’s Focus Areas

Buildings and Maintenance:

Areas identified for 2019 on the 10 Year Development Plan are as follows:

• Exterior re-clad to section of administration including new windows along with replacement of flat roof over administration area

• Student bathroom refurbishment in middle and top floors of school building (Boys and Girls)

• Heat pump replacement (x4) – or as needed
