On the rainy, windy afternoon of October 20, your membership records were successful-ly converted out of an Access database to Wild Apri-cot’s membership management software. This will make it easier for volunteers to enter and track mem-bership and will eliminate the need to upload email ad-dresses into Constant Contact, a separate email sys-tem. The membership software will automate renewal notic-es and will automatically deactivate membership with-out a lot of manual intervention from a volun-teer. Eventually, with more tweaks, it will allow each member to manage their own membership record when an address or phone number changes. Although the data has been converted, members should not experience any difference other than notic-ing their emails are now coming from another system. But volunteers who do the newsletters, track birthdays and enter membership records should notice greater ease in compiling membership information and data en-try. Please be patient as the use of the system evolves. There may yet be a few hiccups but please know they can be corrected quickly! -Linda

A RELIEVED MEMBER
By Parker Dillard
Thank you. All along I was hop-
ing I would have the occasion to
write this, which is a brief se-
quel to my article of a couple of
months ago entitled A CON-
CERNED MEMBER. I would be remiss if I did not
respond. It was written while in a distraught mood. I
had the blues because the Richmond Shag Club was
told that we would no longer have the use of Visions
for our beginner lessons on Thursday evenings. Boo,
hiss I thought, this ain’t good and we’re to blame. So,
a plea was made for us to get off the stick, to support
the beginner lessons, to show up, socialize and
dance, and to support Visions. Now don’t get me
wrong, I’m not so presumptuous as to think the arti-
cle was the catalyst, but several of you did say that
you read it and were moved enough to put Visions
back on your calendars. Thank you for that because
we have returned; as of September 12 the manage-
ment of Visions gave us a reprieve, just like the kick-
er who misses the crucial chip shot field goal, but
then gets another chance in OT and plants it right
down the middle.
Now let’s not squander this second chance, let’s keep
it going. Renew your enthusiasm for Thursday
nights; like I said before, it doesn’t have to be every
week, but fit it in when you can. Your presence
makes a heck of a difference.
OK, that’s enough out of me; I’ll shut up and dance.
-Parker
