Doderlein`s Bacilli break down glycogen into lactic acid, the reaction of vagina is acidic (PH 4-5) Estrogens stimulate deposition of glycogen into vaginal mucosa. Mucosa does not contain glands but the vagina is kept moist by serous transudation from its wall.
