Baroque Academy July 5-12, 2020The Baroque Academy offers high-level, immersionclasses for Baroque strings, winds, and voice. Studentswork closely with internationally renowned faculty ona variety of Baroque performance practice topics.

Chamber music ensembles andBaroque orchestra rehearse in preparation for performances. Audition by April 1for all programs. A=415.

Baroque Academy Opera Project: DAFNE Staged and costumedBaroque opera with orchestra. Directed by Julianne Baird and Richard Stone;staging by Oliver Camacho. Inspired by Ovid's The Metamorphoses, the operarecounts the myth of the nymph Daphne, her desperate flight from a lust-maddened Apollo, and her magical transformation. Composed by GiorgioReutter in 1734. U.S. premiere on Friday, July 10.

Baroque Academy Vocal Soloists Cantatas and Oratorios by BachFaculty Drew Minter and Nico van der Meel.Master classes and chamber music with BaroqueAcademy instrumentalists. Explore Baroque style,

recitative, ornamentation, analysis of poetic texts, diction, and effectiverendering of Baroque arias and recitative. Concert on Saturday, July 11.

Baroque Academy for Instrumentalists An intensive all-dayprogram of master classes, chamber ensembles, string ensemble, oboeband, topic classes, and the opera orchestra. Work closely withextraordinary artists on Baroque style, ornamentation, technique, bassocontinuo, and more. Concerts on Friday, July 10 & Saturday, July 11.

Medieval Project with Benjamin Bagby July 12-19, 2020Oswald von Wolkenstein An intensive week-long performance course forvoices, vielle, and harp. Directed by world-renowned Medieval specialistBenjamin Bagby, assisted by instrumental coach Shira Kammen. A courseexploring the 15th-century songbook of the colorful composer, poet, anddiplomat, Oswald von Wolkenstein. Students will receive individual coachingon Medieval style and performance practice. Informal workshopperformance on Saturday, July 18.

Ensemble Singing Intensive July 12-19, 2020Italienische Art Directed by Michael Barrett. For advancedensemble singers. One-on-a-part ensembles will explore the richrepertory of 17th-century vocal ensemble music from German-speaking lands, music often heavily influenced by Italian musicaltraditions. Work on skills essential to the early music singer throughdaily ensemble coachings, and ensemble masterclasses.Concert Saturday, July 18.
