When we talk about medi-cal issues, the conversation is rarely positive.
Many of us do not see a doctor until we are forced to, such as when we need a physical exam for employ-ment or insurance—or when we do not feel well, so we associate these conversations with negative feelings. � e current medical system is not designed for positive reinforcement.
� erefore, I would like to put a positive spin on the topic of chronic health conditions. Diabetes, obesity, hypertension, asthma, and arthritis are a few of the chronic diseases that a� ect the American population. � e reality is that most chronic health conditions e� ect your everyday life—and, unfortunately, not in a positive way. Traditional medicine does not have a cure for these condi-tions. Conventional doctors can prescribe pharmaceutical drugs to control the conditions but not cure the conditions.
� is is where my positive spin comes into play. You can cure your-self of many chronic conditions with alternative medicine, although some conditions will be easier to cure than others. Your cure does not come in a pill or through a medical procedure. Your cure will cost you almost no money. You can include your family in the healing process while they also improve their health. � e cure is as simple as changing your diet, lifestyle, and daily habits.
Here are some tips to improve your health:
1 Add one additional serving of fruits and vegetables to your
diet each day (fruit was easy for me because I love fruit). I always have a bunch of fresh broccoli in the refrigerator. It is easy to wash a small, raw serving to enjoy with dinner each evening.
2 Do you have a job that involves sitting? I do, and I
make it a point to stand up for at least 10 minutes each hour to give myself a break from sitting. Give it a try.
3 Add a 15- to 20-minute walk to your morning and
evening. Shutting o� the world while on a walk is a great way to prepare for the day or review the day’s events.
4 Shut down the electronics for at least 30 minutes before
to going to bed. Use this time to do some quiet meditation and re-lax yourself before going to sleep to ensure a restful night.
As you can see, these are simple tasks that anyone can easily imple-ment in their daily lives. Even if you consider yourself healthy, you will bene� t from these tips. Remember to be patient. It took years to develop your condition, and it will take time to see healing results. And just maybe at your next doctor’s appoint-ment, your doctor will ask you what you have been doing—because you will be in such better shape.
