Belgium Flanders, Others?Other applicants
SME / Research institutes working on any aspects of algae-bacteria systems, waste-water treatment bioreactors and nutrient elimination by algae, recycling and valorisation of produced algae-bacteria biomass in consumer products
Profile of partners sought
- Cost reduction for wastewater treatment caused by energy savings in wastewater treatment as O2-aeration is substituted by algae
- Generation of higher value and quality of residues for reuse instead of generating wastes
- High elimination potential for eutrophic waste waters, especially N-containing- New features and market areas for consumer products, like bio pots
Advantages for SMEs, trade or industry
Material recycling of algae-bacteria biomass from wastewater treatment of different industrial effluents. Case studies, e.g. with algae-bacteria (ALBA)biomass from paper industry, product testing for e. g. innovative products regarding bio pots, fertilizer, board, packaging paper
Proposal summary
Recycling industry, wastewater treatment / other industriesSector
CORNET and EraSME Partnering Event May 16, 2013 – Berlin 7
What technology and/or application field is addressed?– Waste water treatment by algae-bacteria systems.– Production of consumer products, e.g. bio pots, board, packaging paper and others.
State of the art– Waste water treatment with algae-bacteria biomass works well and need no additional
O2-supply. Optimisation and further developments of the process is necessary.– Production of bio pot using recycled paper and turf.
What are the major objectives and outcomes of the new project? – Pretreatment of ALBA biomass and process adaption: more algae-bacteria biomass;
suitable harvesting, conditioning, preparation and treatment of the algae-bacteria biomass for further valorisation.
– Development of consumer products, e.g. bio pots containing algae-bacteria biomass.Who are the actors of the project?
– Associations, research providers, SMEs with interest/experience in wastewater treatment and material recycling of algae-bacteria biomass
What is the benefit for participating SMEs/Associations?– Self-financing or profitable wastewater treatment plant– New features and market areas for consumer products, like bio pots
What are the estimated costs and duration of the project?– app. 1000k – 1500k Euro, 24 months
