MISTRAS in Baton Rouge, LA is an Inspecon
Lab providing state-of-the-art Non-Destrucve
Tesng (NDT) services to airports in the region.
MISTRAS also employs an R&D Department
that develops advanced NDT methods tailored
to specic aircra and aircra component
needs. In addion, we are an ISO and PED
Accredited Tesng Lab that meets or exceeds
FAA standards for NDT and other inspecon
disciplines.
Along with our Baton Rouge, LA facility, we
have numerous MISTRAS Service centers
strategically located throughout the United
States to serve your NDT needs, provide
NDT Training, Recercaon and Level-III

Our Aerial li device on-site inspecon program
uses the most comprehensive technologies
in the industry. To ensure the safe operaon
of crical equipment we use global Acousc
Emission inspecons that exceed ASTM & NFPA
standards and assures equipment owners that
their assets can be operated safely. We inspect
the upper and lower boom including berglass,
hoses, leveling system, etc. to locate defects
that may cause a free fall, free rotaon and/
or dielectric failure. Visual and operaonal
inspecon of all crical, structural areas are
performed via magnec parcle, ultrasonic
and dye penetrant NDE methods in accordance
with ANSI A92.2 and OSHA 1910- 1926.

Tesng and cercaon of electric workers
safety equipment is essenal to both ensure
worker safety, and comply with industry
regulatory standards. MISTRAS provides
a comprehensive Live Line Tool in-service
maintenance and dielectric tesng program
for all your service needs.
We perform tests in accordance with OSHA
1910 and IEEE Std 978-1984, including visual
inspecon, cleaning, waxing, and dielectric
tesng of live line tools such as hot scks,
berglass reinforced plaorms, insulang
jumper cables, bypass tubes, and more.

inspecon guidelines, and our customizednon-intrusive tank inspecon program, we
can determine the relave condion of your
storage tanks without entering the asset.
All of our API-653 inspecons ulize our
electronic reporng system allowing the
rapid generaon of eld tank reports on site.

MISTRAS Halon Bole Recercaon System
(HBRS) is a dedicated product, designedspecically for tesng Halon 1301 aircra
re exnguisher spheres from 5 to 16 inches
in diameter. Conceptually developed by
the Sandia Naonal Laboratory, funded by
FAAs aging aircra iniave and designed
and manufactured by MISTRAS, the system
consists of state-of-the-art Acousc Emission
(AE) instrumentaon and applicaon-specic
soware.
A 200 lb. capacity slide-out tray in the Test
Chamber holds the Halon bole test xture.
The Halon bole is inserted into this xture,
where the holding (or resng) points are thesensors used to detect AE signals during the
test sequence. Sensor cables from the xture
are neatly routed through the side of the
Test Chamber to the Operator Console. A
thermocouple is aached to the Halon bole
prior to the test. This thermocouple is also fed
to an outside digital temperature meter, and a
voltage indicave of the actual temperature is

vary in size, from 5 to 16 inches in diameter,
the test chamber and xture are designed to
accommodate the enre range, including all
spherical 4DA and 4DS boles. Non-spherical
boles can also be tested using a dierent
xture provided with the system.
The greatest nancial advantage resulng from
ulizing this test procedure is in decreased
bole handling. Aer removal from the aircra,
the Halon bole is recered immediately andreturned to the aircra. Signicant cost savings
are gained from a reducon of inventory and
inventory-related record keeping because
the Halon is not removed from the container.
Depending on the size of the bole, the actual
test procedure takes an average of only 30
minutes.

Report generaon and record keeping is
an important part of any regulated DOT
recercaon test procedure and is subject to
periodic audit. Because the new test procedure
is carried out under computer control, the
test report is automacally printed at theconclusion of the test sequence. Addionally
the raw data is automacally stored fo
