Air Pollution

Created By:Chance Snyder

Issues

• Some of the issues are that there are way to many factories polluting the air with the excess gasses they let out of the buildings.

• Air pollution is a mixture of solid particles and gases in the air. Car emissions, chemicals from factories, dust, pollen and mold spores may be suspended as particles. Ozone, a gas, is a major part of air pollution in cities. When ozone forms air pollution, it's also called smog.

Polluted Areas in the U.S

• Though overall air pollution is down compared to previous years, the problem is still widespread. Visalia and Fresno, two mid-size towns in central California ranked high for short-term and year-round particle pollution. Birmingham, Ala., and Cincinnati were listed in the top 10 of metro areas with unhealthy levels of year-round particle pollution. In the Southwest, the Houston, Dallas and Phoenix metro areas had high ozone levels.

Most Polluted

• Twenty years ago Linfen, China was invaded by coal mines and factories and degenerated from a center of fruit and flower farming to a twisted and polluted wasteland of ruined air, water, and earth.

Clean Air Act

• The Clean Air Act is the law that defines EPA's responsibilities for protecting and improving the nation's air quality and the stratospheric ozone layer. The last major change in the law, the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990, was enacted by Congress in 1990. Legislation passed since then has made several minor changes.

Acid Rain

• Acid rain can destroy the enviroment by making all the plant life die for no food for the species.

• Acid rain in the worst in upstate New York.

Effects of Acid Rain

• Can destroy plant life in the ecosystem

• Also take away a lot of food sources for the ecosystem.

• Acid rain causes acidification of lakes and streams and contributes to the damage of trees at high elevations
