RulesRules• When you tell friends, family,

or young people to do something, you use an affirmative tú command.

• To give the commands, you use the (3rd) él, ella, Ud. present tense form of the infinitive.

• Hablar → Habla• Escribir → Escribe • Correr → Corre

• Some verbs have irregular tú commands.

• To form many of these commands, take the yo form of the present tense and drop the –go

• Polite commands • The expression favor de followed by an infinitive is used to give polite commands.– Favor de venir aquí

(acá).– Favor de no hablar.– Favor de volver

pronto.

• Whenever a pronoun (d.o.p., i.o.p. or reflexive pronoun) is used with the infinitive, the pronoun is attached to the end of the infinitive.

• To tell someone what NOT to do use a negative command

1. Put verb in the present tense yo form

2. Drop the –o

3. Add –es for –ar verbs or –as for –er/-ir verbs

4. Put a no in the front• The endings are
