AAs a manager of an established and well respected detective agency I get resumes all of the time; the rst thing I look for before considering a candidate is to ask the question, “How has this person invest-ed in themselves before asking me to

invest in them?

Learn how to stand out from the crowd. Get as much train-ing as possible. Find a mentor. Private investigation specic training is the most important investment you can make in

yourself!

Go out on surveillance with an investigator for a full 8 hour day, in order to see if it's some-thing you’d like to do.

Don't specialize. The more you can market yourself the more business you will be able to

generate.

Understand your area of expertise and to identify how you want to perform your assignments. Be honest, straightforward and work

at your best.

Find a reputable investigator who is willing to let you intern with them or who is willing to train you. the best training in this eld is on-the-job.

Get training.Never ever stop training.

To earn a living doing this type of work you need a lot of time to build a reputation and a client list therefore in the beginning it should be an avocation with needed time to accomplish

those goals.

Networking with other investigators. Join a professional association and get your name and face known.
