Advanced Additive Manufacturing Training
Focus: Laser Powder-Bed Fusion
What do we offer? The aim of this training is to inspire novel thinking in part production and educate on the usage and design of AM-parts.
It will be conducted by consultants and engineers from Siemens Gas & Power and Materials Solutions with multi-year experience in AM, especially Laser Powder-Bed Fusion (L-PBF). The training is based on company-wide use-cases and experiences in R&D and industrialization projects.
Over a four day workshop a holistic overview of the L-PBF technology from ideation to costing and production is given, with a special focus on the engineering aspect of L-PBF part production.
Training Overview
• AM technology and materials overview (different technologies, focus L-PBF)
• L-PBF process chain
• L-PBF job preparation: Nesting and support structures
• Opportunities and limitations (flexibility, build size, process speed, ...)
AM Fundamentals Design for L-PBF
• Design rules and case studies to meet require-ments for:• Manufacturing• Component
performance• Cost targets
• Functional integration• AM ideation metho-
dologies
• Reverse Engineering
L-PBF Materials Science
• Microstructure of L-PBF metal parts
• Mechanical Integrity of L-PBF parts made of:• Steels• Nickel-based alloys• Aluminum
• Heat treatment strategies
• Surface finishing & post-processing
Component Screening
and Selection
• Selection and filter methodologies
• Cost estimation methods
• Pain point analysis
• AM roadmap develop-ment
Siemens and Materials Solutions offer you our experience from over 12 years of metal L-PBF printing ‒ Imagine what we can achieve together.
