Designing and launching a new platform to resource hundreds of partner projects serving communities in need with pre-qualified & trained volunteers.

TRANSCRIPT

a new platform for

missional partnerships?

Hi. I’m John Henry. For 25 years I have mobilized

students into missions with Youth With A Mission

1

I thought I was breaking the mold

We mobilized hundreds of internships to help students learn how to flourish in their calling by

serving projects in communities around the world.2

But our interns were mostly from the Western World.

3

Then I began to notice something…

I saw Indian & Korean missionaries leading student fellowships

everywhere.

4

YWAM leaders from Madagascar working on campus in four cities

their nation. 5

I have worked with hundreds of young leaders engaging university communities in 35 countries.

6

And I worked with Chinese church planters leading tens of thousands in

universities in 6 cities.

The movement plans to send one million new missionaries in the next decade .

7

The World has changed.

The new Majority Church is in the Global South.

75% of Church is now outside the West and has little

attachment to Western traditions, identity, and legacy.

(Roman/Greek/Protestant)God’s Church does not have a mission; God’s Mission has a Church with many

centers.

And this new world is FLAT... More connected.

• There are 650 million mobile phones In Africa.

• Nigeria has100 million mobile phone lines.

• Kenya’s mobile phone sales increased more than 200% in 2009.

• Africa has far more than U.S. and Europe.

10

Question:

How do we respond to this growing opportunity to share Jesus Christ and

mobilize a new generation?

11

And how can we mobilize volunteers from anywhere to

everywhere?

12

How can we foster missional partnerships?

13

What is a missional community?

14

And how can they be involved now?

15

Here’s our response:

!

!a partnership platform for missional service

culturally immersive, and community driven

and volunteers everywhere.

converge involves four types of people

StudentsMentors

Donors Field Hosts

A project-based missional partnership.

(Servant Learners)(Personal Encouragers)

(Personally Engaged) (Showing Hospitality)

22

field hosts

• Hosts receive students to serve projects in THEIR community.

• Hospitality may be the most strategic of all missional activity, important for the early church to overcome.

Hosts initiate with a simple online app, get validated by a fellow partner, and we publish their project on the converge site.

23

studentsThe most connected, well travelled, cross-

cultural, and socially conscious generation.

Students search the site from anywhere to serve the project that best fits their schedule,

passion, and field of study.

!

So you must go and make disciples... Matthew 28:19

24

mentors

Participants choose their own Mentor from their church or community. Pastors and Academic/Work References are encouraged to help them choose a mature Christ-follower with cross-cultural experience.

Mentors complement the converge online course with prayer and personal input to help participants prepare to serve and discern their career, their life-work calling.
