Attendance

A good attendance record increases a student’s

chance to develop the skills necessary to be successful

in life ANDIncreases the student’s

chances to pass the STAAR

If school is in session, your child should be in

school.

Occasionally doctor appointments must be

scheduled during school-PLEASE schedule these

after core subjects!

BEHAVIOR

Encourage your child to make good choices

about behavior.

This includes the cafeteria!

WORK HABITS

*Come to school with homework completed

*Come to class with the necessary materials

*Come to school with a positive attitude!

HOMEWORK!

*Reinforces skills learned in class

*Challenges students to think

*Fosters independent learning

* Will be in planner!

*Sent home copies in Monday folder.

*Conduct and work habit issues are separate

*Cuts will be noted on Responsibility Record

*Students are responsible for writing all their classwork

assignments in their planner*Teachers use the planners to

*Math homework if not completed in class

*Weekly Spelling handed out on first day of the week

with assignments.*Spelling test each Friday*Science Homework will

begin in January.

To be Successful in 5th Grade

*Know your Math facts!*Take class notes/examples

*Show work for Math!*Corrections are due in 3 days

*Math – Monday-Thursday tutoring!

*Be sure your child reads 20-30 minutes each day.
