1. UPN boards A great number of UPN boards will be fitted
along the river and throughout the Township.
These boards depict a Unique Position Number.
The GPS coordinates and text description of these numbers are stored in the AIM servers.
What does the UPN board look like? This is a typical UPN board, showing the unique position
number.
How does the UPN system work? A person needing to inform the emergency services of
an incident sends the code by way of SMS messaging to the server.
The server requests type of incident by return SMS (with index menu of possible emergencies).
The caller selects an incident and sends this back to server.
The server dissipates the information to all linked call centres and returns a reference number to the caller.
2. S O S call boxes
A number of GPRS based (wireless) call boxes will be fitted in the Township, to enable those without cell phones, to contact the AIM call centre.
The SOS call box
Public education Literature depicting the aims of the
campaign will be distributed throughout the Township.
Printed media and Radio will be reporting on this on an ongoing basis.
Road shows will be used to get closer to the population, to educate all.
