Monatspruch Mai
Alles, was Gott geschaffen hat, ist gut, und nichts ist verwerflich, was
mit Danksagung empfangen wird.
1. Timotheus 4,4
will uns einen neuen Blickwinkel verschaffen. In seinem Kontext geht

Reminder: The person with their names underlined must please phone the rest in their group to remind them of their tea/flower duty.
One flower arrangement in the CC and one in the Church will suffice.
The hostess poured a cup of tea for a middle-aged man at her church and asked him if he took sugar. "No," he said. "Yes," said his wife brightly at the same moment. Then she turned accusingly to him. "But I always put sugar in your tea!" "I know," the man said in resignation "I used to remind you not to. Now I just don't stir."
Wort DANKE an:
Wer dankt denkt daran was er
etwas empfangen hat.
A = Ansteckend: Danken wirkt ansteckend.
Pastor Reiner Focke
DANKE; DANKE SCHÖN; VIELLEN DANK;
HERZLICHEN DANK; DANKE; DANKE SCHÖN;
Paul said: “By the grace of God I am what I am.”
1 Corinthians 15:10
Two or three years before the death of John Newton, when his sight was so dim that he was no longer able to read, a friend and colleague in the ministry called to have breakfast with him. Their custom was to read the Word of God following mealtime, after which Newton would make a few remarks on the Biblical passage, and then prayer would be offered. That day there was silence after the words of Scripture - 'By the grace of God I am what I am.' Several minutes passed, then John Newton said:'I am not what I ought to be. How imperfect and deficient I am! I am not what I wish to be, although I abhor that which is evil and would cleave to that which is good. I am not what I hope to be. Soon I shall put off mortality and with it all sin and imperfection. Though I am not what I ought to be, nor what I wish to be, nor what I hope to be, I can truly say I am not what I once was, a slave to sin and Satan. I can heartily join with the apostle and say that by the grace of God I am what I am.’ On what do you rely in your life? Achievements, possessions? They may be great, yet ultimately they will not last. You need God’s grace as a carrying force in your whole life. Come let us follow Paul and Newton and rely on the grace of God for our lives. Kindereinträge im Reispass der Eltern ungültig ab
26.06.2012
NT12442/2012/lk 10.

At the end of life we will not be judged by how many diplomas we have received, how much money we have made,
how many great things we have done.
We will be judged by 'I was hungry and you gave me to eat, I was naked and you clothed me, I was homeless and
you took me in.'
Hungry not only for bread -- but hungry for love. Naked not only for clothing -- but naked for human dignity and
respect. Homeless not only for want of a room of bricks -- but homeless because of rejection.

Ascension The inclusion of Ascension day on the list of days that Lutheran's celebrate represents the Lutheran recognition of the day that Jesus Christ ascended into heaven, 40 days after His resurrection from the dead, and signifying the end of His earthly ministry.
Pentecost The festival of Pentecost is in reference to the 40th day after Christ’s ascension into heaven, when He fulfilled His promise to the apostles and sent the Holy Spirit down upon them in order to prepare them for teaching His word to the World.

Join us for Schulfest (school fête) on Saturday, 5 May 2012! Don’t worry! There will be a big screen in the Lapha for rugby fans. There’ll be school-girls’ hockey in the morning and possibly a 7-a-side rugby tournament later on! Exact times will be confirmed
closer to the day. Browse through the flea market, enjoy a cuppa in the art gallery’s tea garden or relax to the sounds of music performed by our learn-
ers and their bands. By popular demand, the potjiekos competition and dance contest
will be back! If you’re keen to enter the potjiekos competition,
text Brigitte du Preez on 082 415 0496 for further info. Hurry, as space is limited!
We would appreciate your help by: 1. Advertising (word of mouth, email, Facebook, etc.);
2. Assistance on the day; 3. Making a donation in kind (cakes for the tea tent, small prizes
for adults or kiddies); or 4. Financial assistance! Cash donations can be paid to the school’s
office (ref. “Schulfest”). We also need help with the meat processing, aka Schlachten, on
either 21 or 28 April at the Gemeindehalle/ Church hall. The Peter-Paul congregation is the drive behind this process and they need helpers. You do not need to be skilled! Merely eager to learn! To help with the meat processing, contact the school secretary on
082 555 7705. We look forward to seeing you there! Regards

I have always wondered why supermarkets make the sick people walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.
THE OLD PHONE ON THE WALL……..
When I was a young boy, my father had one of the first
telephones in our neighbourhood. I remember the
polished, old case fastened to the wall. The shiny
receiver hung on the side of the box. I was too little to
reach the telephone, but used to listen with fascination
when my mother talked to it.
Then I discovered that somewhere inside the wonderful device lived
an amazing person. Her name was "Information Please" and there
was nothing she did not know. “Information Please” could supply
anyone's number and the correct time!
My personal experience with the genie-in-a-bottle came one day
while my mother was visiting a neighbour. Amusing myself at the tool
bench in the basement, I whacked my finger with a hammer, the pain
was terrible, but there seemed no point in crying because there was
no one home to give sympathy.
I walked around the house sucking my throbbing finger, finally
arriving at the stairway. The telephone! Quickly, I ran for the foot-
stool in the parlour and dragged it to the landing climbing up;
I unhooked the receiver in the parlour and held it to my ear.
"Information, please" I said into the mouthpiece just above my head.
A click or two and a small clear voice spoke into my ear.
"Information. I hurt my finger..." I wailed into the phone, the tears
came readily enough now that I had an audience.
"Isn't your mother home?" came the question.
"Nobody's home but me," I blubbered.
"Are you bleeding?" the voice asked.
"No," I replied. "I hit my finger with the hammer and it hurts."
"Can you open the icebox?" she asked.
I said I could.
"Then chip off a little bit of ice and hold it to your finger," said the
voice.
After that, I called "Information Please" for everything. I asked her for
help with my geography, and she told me where Kalgoorlie was.
She helped me with my maths.
She told me my pet chipmunk that I had caught in the park just the
day before, would eat fruit and nuts.
Then, there was the time Peter, our pet canary, died. I called,
"Information Please," and told her the sad story. She listened, and
then said things grown-ups say to soothe a child. But I was not
consoled. I asked her, "Why is it that birds should sing so beautifully
and bring joy to all families, only to end up as a heap of feathers on
the bottom of a cage?"
She must have sensed my deep concern, for she said quietly, “Wayne,
always remember that there are other worlds to sing in."
Somehow I felt better.
Another day I was on the telephone, "Information Please."
"Information," said in the now familiar voice.
"How do I spell fix?" I asked.
All this took place in a small town in Tasmania when I was nine years
old, we moved across the country to Sydney. I missed my friend very
much. "Information Please" belonged in that old wooden box back
home and I somehow never thought of trying the shiny new phone
that sat on the table in the hall. As I grew into my teens, the
memories of those childhood conversations never really left me.
Often, in moments of doubt and perplexity I would recall the serene
sense of security I had then. I appreciated now how patient,
understanding, and kind she was to have spent her time on a little
boy.
A few years later, on my way North to university, my plane put down
in Newcastle. I had about a half-hour or so between planes. I spent 15
minutes or so on the phone with my sister, who lives there now. Then
without thinking what I was doing, I dialled my hometown operator
and said, "Information Please."
Miraculously, I heard the small, clear voice I knew so well.
"Information." I hadn't planned this, but I heard myself saying, "Could
you please tell me how to spell fix?"
There was a long pause. Then came the soft spoken answer, "I guess
your finger must have healed by now."

I laughed, "So it's really you," I said. "I wonder if you have any idea
how much you meant to me during that time?"
“I wonder," she said, "if you know how much your calls meant to me.”
I never had any children and I used to look forward to your calls."
I told her how often I had thought of her over the years and I asked if
I could call her again when I came back to visit my sister.
"Please do", she said. "Just ask for Sally."
Three months later I was back in Tasmania. A different voice
answered, "Information."
I asked for Sally.
"Are you a friend?" she said.
"Yes, a very old friend," I answered.
"I'm sorry to have to tell you this," She said, “Sally had been working
part time the last few years because she was sick. She died five weeks
ago."
Before I could hang up, she said, "Wait a minute, did you say your
name was Wayne?"
"Yes." I answered.
"Well, Sally left a message for you. She wrote it down in case you
called. Let me read it to you."
The note said, "Tell him there are other worlds to sing in. He'll know
what I mean."
I thanked her and hung up. I knew what Sally meant.
Never underestimate the impression you may make on others.
Whose life have you touched today?
Lifting you on eagle's wings.
May you find the joy and peace you
long for.

A Sunday school teacher was discussing the Ten Commandments with her five and six-year-olds. After explaining the commandment to “Honour thy father and mother,” she asked, “Is there a commandment that teaches us how to treat our brothers and sisters?” One little boy replied, “Thou shall not kill.”
After putting her children to bed, a mother changed into old slacks and a droopy blouse and proceeded to wash her hair. As she
heard the children getting more and more rambunctious, her patience grew thin.
At last she threw a towel around her head and stormed into their room, putting them back to bed with stern warnings.
As she left the room, she heard her three-year-old say with a trembling voice, "Who was that?"

HARBURG FRöHLICHER
DIENSTAG
Johanna Klipp.
News from the Retreat Centre
With a sigh of relief
(or exhaustion) our management
is running around, washing,
cleaning, taking bookings and
sorting out problems coming our
way from the influx of groups
this year. What a contrast to the
quiet previous year! From
January 2012 we have been busy
at least 3 weekends each month.
At the end of March until the
Easter weekend (two weeks) a
group of French students with
their lecturers have been visiting
our area. A sincere thank you
goes to Ingrid, Mallie and Judith
for doing a sterling catering job.
They all felt however, that the
stove needs to be replaced which
has been on our budget for this
year already. I would also like to
thank Naomi Meyer, for helping
Ingrid with the new lay- out of
the Retreat Centre garden. It
looks so much more tranquil and
inviting. Thank you! I still dream
of having some paintings done
for the En suite Rooms by our
many talented artists in our con-
gregation. Please contact me for
more details if you are willing to
help.

News from the Resource Centre
If you love reading as much as I do, you probably also keep looking out for relaxing and challenging new books. Therefore I would like to thank Ramona Küsel and Brenda Wittig sincerely for their generous donations of books. Among them are a vast amount of biographies, but also books that could help us in our walk with the Lord. Come and have a look.
Please remember to browse in the library after a service, as the books on display are only a small fraction of what we have to offer. If you know of books you would like us to stock in the library, please contact me.
I have added a substantial amount of DVD’s to the al-ready existing collection. Please remember that I am not able to watch them before purchasing them. Therefore not all the films and theology behind it can be endorsed by us. However, they might stimulate discussion in home groups or among friends.
Please remember that DVD`s must be returned after two weeks, while you have a whole four weeks to enjoy the books.
Happy reading!! Anne Focke
What our little ones pray!
"Dear God, are you actually invisible or is that just a trick?" "Dear God, maybe Cain and Abel would not kill each other so much if they each had their own rooms. It works out OK with me and my brother."
"Dear God, I didn't think orange went with purple until I saw the sunset you made on Tuesday night. That was really cool."
"Dear God, I say your prayer every night, 'lead us not into temptation and deliver us some e-mail' but I never get an e-mail from you. Do you have my right address?"
