Youth Program
THE PROGRAM The Program comprises of four modules:
1. Fundamentals of financial services
2. International Introduction to Securities and Investments (Kenya)
3. Regulations and Market Practice (Kenya)
4. Technical option (either Global Securities, Derivatives or
Wealth Management).
TRAINING MODEL We understand that most students have busy lives filled with classes,
entrepreneurial endeavours, internships or unwinding after
overwhelming tasks. We have therefore developed a flexible training
model that includes tutor-guided online support complementing face to
face classroom training. We then take our students through weekly quizzes and
automated Mock examinations that mimic the real examination.
COURSE SUMMARY The programme is divided into two parts.
Part I will consist of the Fundamentals of Financial Services and the International Introduction of Securities and
Investments.
Part II will consist of Regulations and Market Practice (Kenya) and a technical option of choice (either
derivatives, global securities or wealth management)
PART I
Fundamentals of Financial Services – 4 weeks long Fundamentals of Financial Services is an important first step in developing the essential basic knowledge required for
working in financial services. You will learn about the industry and commonly used financial products, such as shares,
bonds and insurance and it will provide you with an understanding of financial terminology.
International Introduction to Securities and Investments – 4 weeks long The qualification focuses on international markets and covers key financial principles and products in depth including
assets and markets, equities, bonds, derivatives and investment funds. It explores the broader economic environment in
which the financial services industry operates and looks at how economic activity is determined and managed in different
economic and political systems. The qualification offers an introduction to financial services regulation and ensures
candidates are provided with an understanding of ethical behavior and acting with integrity
PART II (Includes internship opportunities awarded on basis of merit)
Regulations and Market Practice (Kenya) – 4 weeks long The aim of this unit is to provide candidates with a general understanding of the rules and regulations applying in
the Kenyan Capital Markets.

introduction of more diversified products in the market.
You will have the skill set to engage with investors is
consistently, professionally and ethically.
Technical Options (Choose one) – 8 weeks long
I Global Securities The CISI Global Securities professional qualification will provide you with knowledge of market infrastructure, operation,
regulation and practice.
II Derivatives The CISI Derivatives professional qualification of KCMP will provide you with the knowledge and skills required for
advising and/or dealing in derivatives.
III Wealth Management The CISI Wealth Management professional qualification will provide you with specialist knowledge and expertise to
foster a strong career in wealth and investment management and will qualify you to advise clients under the UK’s Retail
Distribution Review, as well as other global jurisdictions.
