Purpose StatementO The purpose of diving deeper into

the following data is to take a closer look at Nickajack Elementary School. Each year data is viewed to write the SSP but often not taken further to help our school improve at the instructional level. Hopefully, by viewing this data a little deeper as a staff we can identify some unidentified problems and create solutions to better our school.

Summary In viewing all the data one can first attest to the diverse population within the school. In looking further into the CRCT data, I found that our school has made gains in both Reading, Math, and Language Arts with some exceptions. It is apparent that Social Studies and Science are a weak point for the school. In diving even deeper, it is evident that Science is suffering when compared to district and state scores. Once sub groups are looked at it is evident that specific sub groups are having a greater impact on the scores than others. My question becomes, ‘ how can we as educators use this data to develop our instruction to further our understanding of how Science can and should be integrated into every day curriculum?’

Discussion

It’s been argued that Science is less important than other subjects, especially in Elementary School. It is evident by the data that, as a school, we should begin focusing more on Science without forgetting the other subjects importance as well.

Discussion

STEM schools are on the rise. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. How can our school integrate better into our curriculum using STEM based lessons? Where do we start?
