September 6, 2013 Dear Parents and/or Guardians; We were pleased to see so many parents at our Back to School Night on September 3rd. We enjoyed sharing our curriculum and community with you and hope the information was both interesting and valuable. On behalf of the entire Prairieview staff, thank you for your attendance. For those of you that did attend Back to School Night, you saw a wonderful commercial from our school’s PTO. The first general meeting for our PTO will be Monday, September 9, 2013. The PTO is a great organization that is vital to the success of our school. If you are looking for an opportunity to get involved and a fun way to meet other parents while improving our school, I highly encourage you to join our PTO. Every other week the PTO will assemble the PTO Pride, a Friday newsletter, to share upcoming volunteer opportunities and PTO sponsored events. It will also contain school and district news. The flyer is a great way to find out what’s happening at Prairieview. As we continue our efforts to go paperless, we would like to remind you to please!sign up for CCSD 46 e-News on the district webpage (www.d46.org) to choose the information you want to receive - school news, BOE notices and more. Hardcopies of the PTO/School newsletter will not be sent home, but will be posted on our school’s webpage. For the safety of our children, we ask for your support in following areas: Car Riders/Parking- Children should arrive at school between 7:50 and 8:00. When dropping off or picking up your child in the turnaround, please stay in your car, pull-up as far as possible, and form two lanes. If you drop off or pick up your child at the main doors, please park your car in the visitor lot and walk your child between the school’s entrance and your vehicle. There is no parking in the turnaround during or after school hours. It serves as an emergency lane and is for moving vehicles only. Please do not block the handicap parking areas or the parking lot entrances. Bus Riders- Please review the bus rules and procedures with your children. At bus stops children should stay off the road and remain on the sidewalk while waiting for the bus. Visitor procedures- All visitors must enter through the main entrance only. The interior main doors will be locked when school is in session, so visitors will be “buzzed in” and then enter the main office. Upon entry, please sign in and wear a visitor badge and when you leave stop by the office and sign out. We also use a computer identification system for all visitors. You will need a valid state id to enter the building. Please don’t be offended if a staff member provides reminders during arrival and dismissal, or if they ask to see your visitor’s badge. These procedures are necessary to ensure the safety of our children. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to call (847) 543-4230. Sincerely, Vince Murray Principal !

Students learn Spanish naturally through immersion, movement, games, songs, rhythm and acting out/listening to stories. Our storytelling-based method focuses on long-term retention, not just memorization. Students will quickly see how fun and easy it is to understand, read, and write in Spanish while being immersed in language, play, and laughter. This opportunity introduces your student to the many advantages of becoming bilingual and culturally aware at a young age. Check out all the fun we’re having with fluency at www.funfluency.com.
