Who are Near Now?

Near Now is Broadway’s studio for arts, design and innovation. We help people and companies launch ideas that explore technology in everyday life.

We are passionate about design and digital literacy. We seed funded musical invention kit Ototo & 3D printing design curriculum kit Kideville.

Our team include experienced producers with a track record in delivering large scale events and festivals.

Everyone is an explorer, discovering science & technology best through creative learning and play.

We believe

Bring together creative learning champions to improve STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) provision and literacy in Nottingham.

Mission

Create a platform to connect and celebrate the great work the city is doing.

What is Explorers Fair?

Explorers Fair is a world for young creative explorers, families and educators to:

● Discover exciting New Toys & Tech.● Meet Inspiring Inventors.● Make and learn together with Playful Projects.● Get hands on with Awesome Experiments.

Target Audiences

Creative Explorers aged 7 - 13 plus their teachers and families.

● Thursday - 240 Primary Students and Teachers● Friday - 240 Secondary Students and Teachers● Saturday - > 360 Explorers and their Families

Additional audiences include:

● Educational Technology Buyers and Distributors● Creative Learning and STEM Stakeholders across

Nottingham / EM

Where is it going to be?

Explorers Fair takes over Broadway for three days, kickstarting the February half term, as a key feature event within Nottingham’s Festival of Science and Curiosity.

What are we looking for?

Explorers Fair is for creative learning champions who want to inspire passion for science and technology in Nottingham. You might be a:

● Creative science and technology product or service● Club, Project or Community● School / Academy or University● Breakthrough in science and technology● Something we’ve not imagined yet!

What are we looking for?

● We are looking for hands on and playful taster interactions that last up to 10 minutes for groups of around 3 - 6 kids (& big kids).

● Explorers Fair is not just about passively exhibiting your project but finding imaginative ways for the audience to get hooked by showing it in action or trying it for real.

● It could be a creative activity that gets the audience thinking about how your idea works, or something to take away.

What do you need from me?

The first stage is a simple Expression of Interest:

● Project / Business Name● Contact Details● Tell us a bit about what you do? (Less than 200 words)● Tell us about your idea (Less than 200 words)● What parts of the Fair are you interested in? (e.g.

Showing at the Expo, Running a Workshop, Sharing a Talk, Hosting a Meet the Makers Session)

● Which days do you want to exhibit?

What happens next?

After your expression of interest, one of the Explorers Fair team will get in contact to discuss your idea.

● We might want to meet you to see your project and talk more about your Explorers Fair experience.

● Once we’ve confirmed your place at Explorers Fair, we will need your promotional material for your project and any technical requirements for your stall.
