PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE Who does not love to dress up? For me, it is one of my favourite days in the school calendar. It has been fabulous
to see the enthusiasm and participation of students as we celebrate Book Week 2019 with our annual Book
Character Parade. Parents and carers have gone to so much effort to ensure their children resemble characters
from their favourite books. Support during the parade with family and friends watching and then sharing a picnic
lunch is always appreciated.
I wish to thank Mrs McIntosh for her time and organisation and our generous school community for supporting our annual Book Fair. It was lovely to see so many books donated back to our library and most importantly, it helps us send the message that we value reading and the importance of books! I am very pleased to let our school community know that Ms Moore was successful in her application to relieve as Aboriginal Learning and Wellbeing Officer at Wagga District Office. It is a five-week appointment, starting on Monday 26 August until the end of the term. We wish Ms Moore the very best as this is a fabulous opportunity for her and we look forward to her return at the beginning of Term 4. Miss Amanda Case will be teaching Yellow class in Ms Moore’s absence. Tomorrow we will be celebrating NAIDOC Day, with activities starting after recess for the duration of the day. I would like to thank Mrs. Hilton for her time and effort coordinating this day for the students as we recognise Aboriginal culture and history. Students are welcome to wear red, black and yellow mufti clothes for the day. Just a reminder school photos will be taken next Tuesday. Students are to wear their full winter uniform, including black school shoes.
Sometimes being Principal has its very difficult moments…
Recently we have had much sadness within our school staff. Tragically Mrs Archer,
Mrs Frogley and Mrs Baker have all lost a treasured member of their family. I am sure
the whole North Wagga community joins with the remaining staff to extend our
deepest sympathy as they are all extremely valued and special members of our staff.
We are missing them dearly and look forward to their return.
Have a fabulous week! Trudy Standley Acting Principal

PLANNING FOR 2020 To assist with planning for 2020 please let the school know as soon as possible if your child/children will not be attending NWPS in 2020. Thankyou. CELEBRATING STAGE 2 NETBALL GALA DAY I had the privilege of taking 2 netball teams to the Stage 2 Netball Gala Day on Friday 16th August. The girls all played very well and did our school proud with fantastic behaviour, attitude and team spirit. A big thank you goes to Mr Tuckett for bringing and setting up a tent for us and also to the many parents who came along to support the girls. Once again many thanks to Jane Wadley for organising referees for the teams. A great day had by all! Mrs Virginia Quilliam

STEWART HOUSE VISIT
Two NWPS students have had an opportunity over the last two weeks to attend Stewart House. Both students have recalled part of their experiences: Maddy: ‘ When we got to Stewart House we had a little meeting to know if we were going to be upstairs or downstairs. I was lucky to be upstairs with 14 other girls. On Tuesday it was my class day where we did worksheets. On Wednesday my class went to the zoo and we stayed there the whole day. On the last day we had to get up at 5:50am to get ready and say our goodbyes to the other students that we met. Danny: ‘The boys cabin was fun. I met some nice people. The best things I did were the tie dye, jewellery making and pottery. We went to The Australian Museum and the Maritime Museum. We also visited SOPAC and the Olympic Pool. The zoo was really good too. I had the best time at Stewart House!’ NWPS AWARDS ASSEMBLY All are invited to our next Awards Assemblies this Thursday. At 2:15pm will be the K – Yr 2 Assembly and 2:40pm for the
Yr 3 – Yr 6 Assembly. This will be held in the hall and al are welcome to attend.
Last week all students received their own photo envelope. Please keep this in a safe place until photo day.
All photo envelopes must be returned on photo day Tuesday 27th August
If you require a sibling envelope please collect one from the

PSSA TOUCH FOOTBALL KNOCKOUT
Last Thursday the senior
boys and girls touch
football teams travelled
to Jubilee Park to
participate in Rounds 3
and 4 of the PSSA
knockout.
Boys
The boys’ 1st game was
against Wagga Public
School. After a tight first
half the scores were
locked together at 2 all at
half time and with the
team showing some
great team football, the
boys eventually went
down 8 – 4 in a very fast
played game.
The 2nd game saw the boys come up against Coolamon Central School. Again the boys gave their best, defending
as strong team but unfortunately the Coolamon team were too good on the day and winning 10 – 3.
Girls
The girls’ 1st match was against Wagga Public School. The girls came out firing scoring a try with the 1st set of 6. From there on they didn’t give Wagga Public a chance, playing fast and skillful football and running away with the game 9 – 2. The 2nd match saw the girls verse South Wagga Public School. The girls faced off with a very well drilled team. They played some very good football and tried very hard, but unfortunately ended up going down 8 – 1. I would like to congratulate both of the teams on their performance and doing North Wagga Public School very proud. Well done boys and girls!
