Course Description:This studio courses is the second in the sequence of four core design studios inLandscape Architecture. This design studio continues the examination of theissues methods, and theories that underlie the practice of landscape architec-ture that were introduced in the first core studio with an elevated level of com-plexity. The studio will introduce survey methods, design, decision making, andrepresentation through a series of projects of varied scale and context. Thedesign studio has the following three objectives:•To develo p a fluency in the vocabulary, strategies, and operations of the land-scape architectural discourse. The vehicle for this is the design of space whoseterritorial boundaries may be revealed, exploited, distanced, obscured or elimi-nated. •To develop a facility with the materials, measures and geometries of site plan-ning. •To apply various representational methods of drawing, computation, and mod-eling as a research tool, as a systematic record of thought, and as a means ofinspiration.
