NOTE:Due to limited site access this tree survey has been formulated using visual inspection from boundaries, aerial imagery and site photography.
Trees to be removed have been highlighted as a worse case scenario. It is acknowledged those trees in the west end of the site form a visual function particularly from distant views, however in localised views and site experience they clutter the approach to the building. It is anticipated that once detail level analysis is carried out that some of these trees may be retained. It is proposed that new semi mature trees will be planted to replace any of those removed, but in locations that both fulfil the long view impact while improving the local use of the site. Any new planting will be native in keeping with the natural landscape of Calton Hill. A range of ages and sizes will be planted in order to create diversity.
