5 Ways SEO CompaniesWill Scam You
The goal here is for you to quickly learn how to protect yourself from questionable
practices that may not only cost you massive amounts of funds…
…but could also ultimately damage your business and your reputation.
Many business owners know that having a major presence on
the internet is vitally important…yet they
do not fully understand the complicated and somewhat abstract
nature of SEO.
We will share with you FIVE major things you should look out for before choosing an SEO
company for your business which your livelihood depends.
If an SEO mentions anything about article directories, web 2.0 properties, wiki links, .edu and .gov links, then you will immediately know they have absolutely no idea what they’re doing.
If any company mentions that they plan on sending thousands of “multi-tiered link wheels” and
“pyramids”, watch out! This practice is absolutely frowned upon by search engines which are definitely capable of finding and penalizing
sites using these practices.
#1. Building Spammy & Junky LinksThe absolute #1 problem that business owners should be aware of when looking for help with their SEO is the practice of building high numbers of “Spammy” links.
TIP: Do not build thousands of useless and/or damaging links to your main website. It’s not a
numbers game. You need to “EARN” links rather than “BUILD” them.
#2. Making Ranking GuaranteesIt is absolutely impossible to make ranking guarantees. Unless this SEO guy is a hacker working for Google and Bing, there is no way of knowing for sure the exact rankings any website will have in the search results.
Companies will often make this promise when pitching their services just to close the sale. After they have you on the hook for 3-6 months with poor results they will tap dance, back pedal
and start talking about the complexities of algorithms and such. You’ll end up wasting
thousands of dollars and possibly getting your site penalized.
TIP: Any legitimate SEO company should have a systematic plan already in place for your website. This plan should start with an on-site SEO audit and competitive market analysis.
After the backlinking and social profile research has been completed, a
comprehensive plan needs to be designed and implemented for long term success.
#3. Long Term ContractsBeware of getting locked into long term contracts of 6-12 months. You should have the freedom to decide if you believe this company is doing the work that they promised to do. If not, you should have the right to cancel at any time with no questions asked.
TIP: You should know that search engine optimization is a long term commitment for your business. So be prepared for results to start showing in 30-90 days.
With that said, if you are totally unsatisfied with the services being
provided, you should have every right to cancel anytime you desire.
#4. Lack of Synergistic Search KnowledgeToday’s search engines give much authority to websites and brands that have a widespread internet presence.
If an SEO company is ignoring the importance of brand awareness marketing, social media integration
and reputation management, then they are totally behind the times.
Make sure you are getting Google My Business Optimization (formally known as Google+ Local
Places).
Have systems in place for customers to easily leave reviews, encourage social media sharing
and advertising.
TIP: Make sure your website is continually updated with useful content. This content should be syndicated through various online sources.
#5. Outdated Theories with No TestingIt is a very sad fact that many people selling SEO services have no knowledge of what practices are currently acceptable to achieve great search engine results.
As mentioned earlier, many are still using or outsourcing the use of completely outdated tactics that will ultimately damage your website. Their sales pitch is all fluff without any evidence that these theories are still working with modern day search programs.
SEO salesmen come well prepared with talking points and rehearsed scripts but don’t buy into it without trusting they will be working with the purpose to actually get you more clients and customers.
You need to decide on a company that is going to provide you with the high quality
services they promise.
TIP: Forget about fancy sales pitches with elaborate PowerPoint slide shows, pie charts and graphs. Forget all the fancy technobabble.
Make sure your SEO company provides you with a full marketing
plan that goes well beyond outdated link
building schemes.
The bottom line is that you want your SEO company to bring you
more customers, clients and revenue.
We hope we’ve helped inform you so you know what to look for when growing your business
presence online…
