PROCHLOROCOCCUSMARINUS

Marinus is found in the ocean. It is bacteria. It’s common name is

prochlorophytes. Marinus is the smallest know prototroph with a size of 2 Mb.

PROCHLOROCOCCUS MARINUS It is 0.5 – 0.7 in diameter. It is so small, it was undetectable until

epifluoresence microscopy was able to detect a faint red glow from the organisms unusual pigments.

It divides once a day in the subsurface layer of oligotrophic areas.

to decay.
