4 Tips to Instantly Improve Your Focus

By TrainYourFocus.com

Staying focused on one task can be difficult. Using these 4 tips, you can easily magnify your focus ability right now.

Tip 1: Have A Clear Goal

A goal keeps you on target and focused.

It removes a mental layer of stress. You don’t have to think as much – it frees up energy to actually do.

But how do you set an effective goal?

Answer these two questions:

1. Why am I doing this?2. What can I realistically achieve

with the time, energy and resources available to me?

Once you answer these questions, you can set a goal that will lock in your focus.

Tip 2: Listen To One Song On Repeat

Listening to one song on repeat sounds odd, but it’s my favorite way to start a work session.

My theory is that the repetition amuses your easily distracted brain segment. That might be completely wrong. All I know for sure is that it works.

And it’s popular..

Even CGP Grey – an absurdly productive YouTube creator – uses this tip.

If you’re skeptical, just try it once and feel the benefits firsthand.

Tip 3: Remove Distractions

Every time a distraction breaks your focus, you lose mental energy getting back on track.

And distractions are everywhere..

A study found people who receive a mobile notification while doing a difficult task performed far worse than those who didn’t.

The presence alone of an iPhone is enough to kill your focus.

The easiest way to eliminate disturbances is to acknowledge their existence.

Think about the things that often grab your attention when you’re trying to focus.

Remove anything that can distract you while you’re working.

Tip 4: Track Your Time

When you’re logging every minute spent on a project, there’s nowhere to hide.

You have a clear display of how effort you’re putting into something.

Here’s how to do it..

In a new spreadsheet, create the following in columns along the top: Date. Start Time. End Time. Time Spend (in minuets). Area of focus (optional). Comments.

Each area is fairly self-explanatory.

You’ll log the date and start time first (plus the area of focus if it’s known); then, when you’re finished, you add the end time and comments.

I use the comments section to give a quick overview of what I achieved in the session.
