Lattice Plate Flooring
IntroductionPekso Precast manufacturers and supplies a range of precast concrete structural building
products ranging from foundations and flooring systems that includes Lattice Plate Flooring.
The Lattice Plate Flooring production facility is one of the most modern precast flooring
production facilities in Europe. The Pekso Precast factory has the capacity to produce up to
1,000,000m2 of specifically designed Lattice Plate Flooring which is supplied throughout the
UK and Northern Europe.
Pekso Precast Lattice Plate Flooring (Omnia)
The Lattice Plate Flooring system combines the speed of precast concrete construction
with the convenience and flexibility of hybrid concrete design. The Lattice Plate Floor
panels are supplied in variable lengths in consultation with our design department spans
of up to 10,500mm are available. The standard width is 2,400mm, but can be varied as
many contracts require a proportion of specifically manufactured non-standard widths. The
thickness varies and is normally 50, 60 or 70mm deep depending on the design requirements.
The Lattice Plate Flooring suits most building types: hospitals, student accommodations,
schools, prisons, multi-storey car parks, hotels, residential and commercial.
The automated production process uses
CAD / CAM / Allplan systems to ensure both
the accuracy of the dimensions and the
precise positioning of openings for electrical
and other services. Design can be part of the
overall Building Information Modelling (BIM).
Lattice girder reinforcementThe reinforcement is assembled and welded in the factory to
form a certified mesh consisting of the integrated reinforcement
sections. The lattice girders are designed to provide the required
structural support to the Lattice Plate Flooring before the in-situ
concrete is poured and also supports the upper reinforcement
mesh. The protruding triangular reinforcement is used as the lifting
points when unloading from the delivery vehicles and for placing
each precast element into its final position.
The installation of Lattice Plate Flooring requires the use of temporary supports. The
number of props required is determined by the load / span criteria and the thickness of
the top bar reinforcement. In consultation with the Pekso Precast design team a choice
can be made with the lattice girders having heavier top bars combined with additional
lattice girders per width of the Lattice Plate Flooring panel. This variation enables a reduction
of the propping layout which will give an overall cost saving on the installation.
DeliveryThe delivery sequence of the Lattice Plate Flooring can be agreed with the client. The
deliveries can be just in time, in accordance with the scheduled requirements reducing
the quantity of Lattice Plate Flooring units required to be stored on site. The panels are
loaded onto each delivery vehicle in the specified placement sequence to reduce the
necessity of double handling. If required Pekso Precast can provide experienced site
supervision for the first deliveries.
Technical InformationStandard sized reinforced Lattice Plate Flooring elements with the following features:
Dimensions - Width: standard 2,400mm.
Non-standard panels manufactured to meet design requirements.
- Thickness: 50-60-70mm
- Length: standard production variable up to 9,000mm.
Special panels up to 10,500mm can be produced in consultation with our design
department.
In most cases Lattice Plate Flooring will require propping. The propping centres are normally
stipulated by Pekso Precast. However, in some circumstances subject to the design criteria
propping is not required.
Other features• Concrete strength: the standard is C28/35 however greater strengths can be used if
necessary for specific requirements.
• The connection: the panels are double chamfered along two edges forming an arris edge
detail which almost eliminates any grout loss.
• The upper surface is roughened to obtain a complete bond with the in-situ capping layer.
• Openings can be pre-formed in polystyrene or cellular concrete with a minimum size of 100
x 100mm. Other sizes are available in multiples of 50mm.
• Dimensional tolerances are in accordance with the relevant BS/Eurocode.
• The soffit finish is of a very high quality, allowing direct decoration thus eliminating the
need for plasterwork.
• The design can incorporate a symmetrical joint layout per room width.
• The Lattice Plate Flooring panels can be used in conjunction with the Pekso Precast Twin
Wall building system.
Pekso can work with 3D design and embraces the BIM Concept. Pekso Precast offer early stage design and a full estimating service

Advantages of Lattice Plate Flooring:The diagram below is a 3D representation of the Lattice Plate Flooring, with a summary of
various (numbered) design features. These numbered benefits relate to the specific details
with the same number.
Design flexibility• (1) Floor openings can be preformed in polystyrene or cellular concrete.
• (2) Lattice girder design flexibility can used to modify the propping layout.
• (3) Irregular shape floor shapes can be designs to eliminate additional on site work.
• Complete Design Flexibility.
• Progressive Collapse design achievable to meet various category requirements.
• Composite lattice plate flooring can be designed to provide diaphragm action to transmit
horizontal forces.
• Two-way spanning design available giving decreased floor thicknesses.
• Lattice Plate Floor panels are 2,400mm wide. Non standard widths also available.
• 1 hour fire resistance on Lattice Plate Floor. Up to 4 hours achievable with subject to design.
• The final floor meets the highest standards of sound regulations.
• Lattice Plate Flooring can suit most building types.
• Can be used with almost all types of construction. In-situ, precast frames, steel frames and
traditional construction.
• Durability of precast reinforced concrete.
• Forms part of a thermal mass structure.
• Void formers can be included to reduce weight and in-situ concrete.
Finishes• High quality soffit finish, suitable for direct painting .
• Flat soffits achieved, unlike prestressed types of flooring.
• Chamfered edge arris detail giving tight joints, and almost eliminates any grout loss.
Build programme benefits• (4) Cast in sockets can be placed into plate floor to receive safety handrails, giving immediate
protection on the floor zone once placed which satisfies health & safety requirements.
• Pre-design M&E services and apertures can be inserted at manufacturing stage creating
substantial savings on site:
- (5) Central electrical conduit boxes
- (6) Built-in opening for mechanical ventilation
- (7) The pipe work suitable for concrete core activation can be incorporated as part of the
manufacturing process.
• Speed of installation 500m2 per day achievable.
• Immediate working platform is created.
• Virtually eliminates the need for on site formwork.
• Metal edge shutters can be cast into floor panel to receive concrete topping.
• Can be used in conjunction with Pekso Precast Twin Wall and Box Beam system giving even
greater construction benefits.
• Lattice girder reinforcement used as lifting points eliminating damage of the Lattice Plate
Floor edges.
• Just-in-time deliveries available eliminating the requirement for site storage on site.
