popularity and growth.
OVERALLANALYSIS OF KALAIKAVIRI
COLLEGE OF FINE ARTS Observations
Institutional strengths
Overall Analysis:(dance
department
Institutional strengths:
The College has always been known
for its dedicated faculty. The teachers
are all very knowledgeable in their
respective subjects and have been
teaching the students with great
dedication and devotion. They are also
very disciplined in their interaction
with the students. The audio video
recording centres within the campus
have helped the students in many ways,
in documentation of the activities that
are conducted for the growth of the
students by various stalwarts. Their
library also is well stacked with books,
audio CDs and Dance and music
DVD’s that students can refer to
whenever they want. Their dance
troupe also travels abroad and hence
they are exposed to the stage and are
hence taught to handle audio, lighting
and other stage requirements.
Institutional Weaknesses:
In my opinion, the College does not
have too many weaknesses. The only
one I feel that special methods should
be created to encourage the serious
study of music for dance, which does
not exist without music.
Institutional Opportunities:
The College has been conducting
seminars and workshops to promote
sharing of information in the field of
dance and music. Besides performing
at churches and temples and in the
college itself, students should be
encouraged to participate in the
festivals conducted in the town and
should participate in all forums
conducted by the dance Associations in
the town.
Institutional Challenges:
The College is doing its best to
encourage more of its UG students to
enter into PG Courses and the Post
Graduates to pursue their research
programmes. Since most of the
students are from the rural areas, the
Institution may apply for grants that
may help the students to explore folk
art, document it and work for its
revival. Those Centre may be set up in
the recently acquired land with all state
of the art facilities.
In conclusion, I would like to observe
that this Institution has raised the
standard of this classical art in our
town. Rural areas have also been
introduced to this art form and
therefore, those who have been
listening and enjoying only folk art are
now well informed about classical art
and are now pursuing studies in the
same.
