• Australia vs UK Cricket Match• Australia has won the last 5 World Scout Jamborees

(Holland 1995, Chile 1999, Thailand 2003, UK 2007, Sweden 2011)

• 12 players will be selected to represent Australia• 12 overs-a-side (2 overs per batting pair)• Selections will be held during the pre-Jamboree camp

Post-Jamboree

• Troops depart Jamboree on Saturday 8 August• Home Hospitality with Japanese Scouting

Families on the island of Shikoku• Return to Osaka on Tuesday 11 August• Final Contingent Dinner on Tuesday 11 August• Depart Japan on Wednesday 12 August

Home Hospitality

• 2 youth members with each family• All hosts are Scouting families• Take one small gift to give to your Host Family• Gift wrapping should be kept until shortly before

giving them out• Contingent Team will be staying in close proximity to

the Home Hospitality locations in case of any issues

Post-Jamboree – IST

• Depart Jamboree site on Sunday 9 August• Return to Osaka via the Hiroshima Peace

Welfare

• The buddy system will be enforced at all times• Tell someone if you have a problem, are sick, or just

not having a good day• We can help you if you tell us, we cannot help you if

you don’t tell us• Each Troop will have a designated health and welfare

leader• Ensure your medical details and emergency contacts

are updated in the online registration system

Weather

• Temperatures will be very hot• High humidity• Appropriate swimwear = hat, sunscreen and

rash shirt

Contingent Youth Council

• Nick Bennett – as Assistant Contingent Leader – will chair the Contingent Youth Council

• All 28 Patrol Leaders will meet with Nick as the CYC on a regular basis

• The CYC provides mentoring for Patrol Leaders and an opportunity to discuss issues or concerns from youth members

• Nick represents the CYC on the Contingent Executive

Incident Management

• Any minor issues will be dealt with at the Patrol or Troop level first

• Major issues will be dealt with through the Contingent Youth Council and the Contingent Executive

• If the incident is sufficiently serious, participants may be sent home at personal (parent’s) expense

Insurance

• Australian Contingent has organised:– Travel Insurance– Smart Traveller Registration

Spending Money

• Recommended maximum of ¥2000 per day ($22)• Money deposited into the Contingent Account will

be available for withdrawal on a regular basis• The approximate exchange rate is $1.00 = ¥100• ATM access will be limited or not available in most

locations

Valuables

• Do not bring valuable items to the Jamboree• If you can’t afford to lose it, don’t bring it• No responsibility will be accepted by the

Australian Contingent for any electronic devices brought to Japan!

• The Australian Contingent will collect all Passports for secure storage in Japan

• Every member of the Contingent is asked to email a photo of the details page of their Passport to wjcontingentleader@scouts.com.au with your ID Number and Name in the file name

Natural Disasters

• Established links with the Australian Embassy and Australian Consul-General Office in Japan

• Extensive emergency management plan in place for our entire journey in Japan

• Updates will be added to the Contingent website and Facebook page as soon as possible, however the immediate safety of the participants will remain our highest priority.

Join-In-Jamboree

• Allows Scouts from all over the world the opportunity to learn more about the Jamboree experience and the culture of Japan in their own Scout Groups.

• Resources are available from the Australian Contingent website.

• A souvenir Join-In-Jamboree badge is available for $2 each, including postage to anywhere in Australia.

• Why not organise a Japanese evening for the whole group to earn the badge together!
