We want to hear your voice about your learning experience. Each programme elects a Student Voice Representative who is the communication channel between you, your class and the institute. You can put forward ideas about teaching and learning, events, activities or anything to do with your study experience. We have a student council who welcomes student participation.

Our Careers Advisor can help and advise you to identify career and employment options that meet your interests and values. ELIGIBILITY FOR HEALTH SERVICES
Most international students are not entitled to publicly funded health services while in New Zealand, so may be liable for the full costs of any treatment. Full details on entitlements to publicly funded health services are available through the Ministry of Health, go to www.health.govt.nz
The Accident Compensation Corporation provides accident insurance for all New Zealand citizens, residents, and temporary visitors to New Zealand, but international students may still be liable for all other medical and related costs. For more information, go to www.acc.co.nz
COMPULSORY MEDICAL AND TRAVEL INSURANCE
Whitireia and WelTec requires all enrolled international students to have approved health and travel insurance for the duration of their enrolment (regardless of the visa type). A student visa holder is also required to have approved health and travel insurance for the duration of their visa or until they depart New Zealand, whichever comes first.
WelTec and Whitireia have arrangements in place for our preferred insurance, policy and provider for international students. Student applicants will be invoiced for the insurance premium during the international admissions process.

IMMIGRATION
Full details of visa requirements, advice on eligibility for employment in New Zealand while studying, and reporting requirements are available through the New Zealand Immigration Service website.
VISA CONDITIONS
A student visa (or a limited visa granted for the purpose of study) is subject to conditions and any breaches must be reported to Immigration New Zealand.
Visa conditions include, but are not limited to:• Having sufficient funds for maintenance while
in New Zealand• Attending the programme at all times unless
there are genuine reasons for any absences, and making satisfactory academic progress
• Studying at the place of study specified on the student visa

It is really important to make your accommodation arrangements for your first days in New Zealand, before you leave your home country. WelTec and Whitireia offer a variety of accommodation options to suit your needs and we can help you make the best choice for your situation.
As part of our service to International Students, WelTec and Whitireia International is available to help you with your accommodation needs and to assist you to settle into whatever type of accommodation you choose.

INTERNATIONAL ORIENTATION
International Student Orientation gives you the information and support you need to settle quickly and easily into life and study in New Zealand.
All new international students must attend International Student Orientation.
Please plan to arrive in New Zealand a few days before Orientation so you have time to settle and rest before your first days at WelTec and Whitireia. Your Offer of Place to WelTec or Whitireia includes your Orientation dates.
Arriving early also gives you the opportunity to attend the Orientation for your programme of study, as well as International Student Orientation.

• Hear from government agencies including New Zealand Police, Immigration New Zealand, and representatives from local city councils
