Returning to School – Hybrid (Allowed in Red Tier)
• Targeted students and groups at District discretion
• “Small stable group of no more than 16 people”
• TK – 12 students may return once county is in ‘red’ tier for 14 days - “Local school officials will decide whether and when that will occur.”
• “Small stable cohorts as much as practicable” based on facility space
• The hybrid model must be consistent with the CDPH guidance for schools and school-based programs.
Note: Local health officer waivers only apply to grades TK-6. High schools are not eligible for waiver process.

Distance Learning Model Status
• AUHSD students have been under the Distance Learning model for a quarter of the 2020-2021 school year.
• Staff continues to obtain feedback from students, parents and teachers through classroom surveys, emails, and meetings.
• Student achievement and engagement data is being continuously analyzed to monitor student progress.

• Blended learning allows for increased face to face interaction with teachers, staff and peers.
• Increased social/emotional connection with teachers, staff and peers.
• Blended instruction allows for the hands on activities that have not been carried out during distance learning.
• AUHSD staff has designed a Draft Blended Instructional Model. (Summer 2020)
• Staff work group will be re-assembled to update the model, make changes based on learnings from first quarter of distance learning and small group in-person instruction. (11/15 – 12/1)
• Blended model master schedule will be developed based on the final student commitments and staffing. (12/11 – 12/20)

Hybrid (Blended Learning) Instructional Model
• Students opting out of in-person instruction during hybrid model may select to stay in distance learning.
• Students opting out of in-person instruction will participate in distance learning.
• At this time this option will be provided by an outside source (online program - Fuel Education or UC Scout – AG and NCAA approved)
• Depending on staffing and number of students, curriculum may be provided by AUSHD staff.
