This handbook contains documents and forms used to provide information requested by the Board. Please note that the forms cited in regulation must be used. These forms include: EDP-P-02 Faculty Approval/Resignation Notification and EDP-P-03 Director Assistant Director Approval Form. These must be completed and submitted to the program NEC for approval.Other documents and forms are suggested. If you opt to not to use the additional suggested forms, you still must provide the required information. FACULTY CLASSIFICATION3 Faculty Classifications:

• Instructor (I) • Assistant Instructor (AI)• Clinical Teaching Assistant (CTA)

Faculty Role/FunctionI - Lead Faculty responsible for a course; supervision (AI’s, CTA’s)

AI - May teach in the classroom but may not take full responsibility for a course; also teach clinical

CTA - May not have any responsibility for classroom instruction; may teach clinical independently but under the direction of the Lead Faculty

NON-FACULTY

• 1424(i) states, “When a non-faculty individual participates in the instruction and supervision of students obtaining clinical experience, his or her responsibilities shall be described in writing and kept on file by the nursing program.”

• Non-faculty individuals shall have expertise in the area in which they are responsible for the clinical supervision of students.

• Identification of all non-faculty individuals and their responsibilities are written and on file.

CONTENT EXPERTS• Content Experts are not approved by the BRN; however, Regulation 1425(f)

states that a content expert shall be an instructor with:

• (1) A master's degree in the designated nursing area; OR

• (2) A master's degree that is not in the designated nursing area and shall:(a) Have completed thirty (30) hours of continuing education or two (2) semester units or

three (3) quarter units of nursing education related to the designated nursing area; or have national certification in the designated nursing area from an accrediting organization, such as the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC);

And(b) Have a minimum of two hundred forty (240) hours of clinical experience within the previous three (3) years in the designated nursing area; or have a minimum of one (1) academic year of registered nurse level clinical teaching experience in the designated nursing area within the previous five (5) years

DIRECTOR APPROVALSubmit the EDP-P-03 form to NEC prior to appointment.

• Master’s Degree or Higher

• 1 year Administrative Experience* (*required for Director)

Curriculum Revision are categorized as either minor or major.

Curriculum Revision require NEC and/or Board approval prior to implementation.

1. Total Curriculum Plan (TCP) Form: • EDP-P-05a (current EXCEL form ONLY)

Public Health Nurse Certificate form (EDP-P-17)

• Educational Requirements (CCR 1491):Bacc or ELM degree from accredited nursing school; PHN coursework/clinical

• PHN certificate is now renewed every 2-years with a fee -Fee $150 (New Fee Schedule).

• Complete EDP-P-17 & submit syllabi and with each curricular change to assigned NEC.

• School responds to Report of Findings

• Program placed on ELC agenda – program representation is not required unless there are outstanding non-compliances.

• ELC recommendations provided to Board for Board action.
