Foreword
Welcome to the 2018 edition of the biennial AQTR Conference!
The 2018 IEEE International Conference on Automation, Qual-ity and Testing, Robotics - THETA 21st edition, follows thetradition of the 20 automation and testing related scientificevents, held in Cluj-Napoca since 1982 under the name THETA- Technologies and Automation Testing. The previous editionshave enjoyed great success, demonstrating the importance ofthe AQTR fields of interest as part of continuously advancingtechnologies. A large variety of papers were presented, provid-ing good opportunities for the participants to exchange ideasand share new advancements registered in the specific fieldscovered by the conference topics.
This 21st edition, organized under IEEE Computer Society -TTTC (Test Technology Technical Council) aegis, reflects thefaithful and effective cooperation between the Technical Uni-versity of Cluj-Napoca, represented by the Automation Depart-ment, and the IPA R&D institute in their scientific activities.
AQTR, as an international forum for the R&D exchanges invarious fields, gathers together researchers and end-usersto discuss the current trends and future directions of con-trol and testing technologies and their industrial and socialapplications in the private and public sectors.
The current edition would not have been possible without thehard work of the Technical Program Committee members -selecting 92 papers for presentation or poster out of the 122submissions. For that, we thank all the reviewers who providedus with such valuable feedback on the submitted works.
The conference brings together more than 95 registered partic-ipants, coming from different countries, outstanding personal-ities well recognised in their fields of activity. We hope you willenjoy our conference, which will offer access to new conceptsand ideas in the emerging "knowledge-based society".
