Franklin  Road  Upgrades

Water  Main  Renewals  and  Wastewater  Separation  Works

July  2016

What  do  we  have  planned  for  July  2016?• Discuss  with  Auckland  Council  a  method  to  streamline  the  building  consent  processing  required  for  private  drainage  works.

• Start  to  meet  with  the  residents  to  obtain  sign-­off  for  the  individual  building  consents  for  each  property.

• Contractor  will  finalise  all  the  requirements  of  the  Resource  Consent  prior  to  mobilising  on  site  – for  example  completion  of  construction  management  plans

• Identify  and  mark  out  of  existing  services  in  Franklin  Road  starting  from  the  lower  end

• Site  establishment  by  the  contractor  in  preparation  for  start  of  works.

• Cycleway design  further  developed  at  upper  and  lower  Franklin  Rd

• Internal  AT  technical  inputs  included• Scheme  road  safety  audit  -­ initial  feedback  included

• Bus  stop  relocation  anticipated  for  mid  2017• Wellington  Street  roundabout  modified  • Additional  parking  spaces  identified• New  World  entrance  discussions  commenced

Upper  Franklin  Scheme  Design• Added  a  central  lead  in  lane  for  confident  cyclists

• Added  a  facility  to  provide  less  confident  cyclists  with  the  opportunity  to  move  off  the  road  and  onto  the  footpath

• Bus  stops  outside  nos.  2  and  11  removed  due  to  changes  in  bus  routes  expected  in  mid-­2017

• Added  one  parking  space  near  intersection  on  north  side

• Added  facilities  for  confident  and  non-­ confident  to  move  through  the  roundabout

• Kerb  lines  modified  to  accommodate  bus  tracking  • Heavy  vehicles  can  now  track  over  the  roundabout

Lower  Franklin  Scheme  Design

• Removed  separator  islands  near  Victoria  Street  West  intersection

• Added  eastbound  central  lead  in  lane  for  confident  cyclists• Added  a  facility  to  provide  less  confident  cyclists  with  the  opportunity  to  move  off  the  road  and  onto  the  footpath

• Westbound  cycleway  starts  on  concrete  on  berm  area  by  Birdcage

• Gateway  treatment  inserted  to  restrict  excessive  2  lane  stacking

• New  bus  stop  located  at  No.97  (subject  approval  from  AT’s  public  transport  staff)

• New  World  entrance  discussions  progressing
