2015 MCAC Summer Job Posting

Student Ministry Intern

Deadline: Sunday April 12, 2015 @ Midnight.

• Remuneration: 12/hr • Work Duration: 12 weeks, 30-33 hrs/week (pending to government grant) • Education: University, College, or Grade 11,12 Student grad entering Univ/College. • Priority will be given to those with prior MCAC volunteer experience directly in Student Ministries. • MCAC baptized member.

Job Description/Duties/Responsibilities (this list shows only the major events, and is not exhaustive). • Note: "Student Ministry" in this document encompasses the following student groups: Jr. High, Sr.

High, and College/Univ. o Plan and execute the Kaleo Summer Camp (August 14 to 16, 2015).

o Plan and execute the Xara Summer Camp (August 24 to26, 2015).

o Plan and execute the Jr High Summer Camp (August 26 to 28, 2015).

• Coordinate, plan, and execute in weekly Xara and Kaleo Fellowship programs.

Note that: Space setup / cleanup, and Audio Visual setup will also be

required.

• Active knowledge of Student Ministry Student trends (Teens, and

College/Univ students), culture, through reading of Youth culturist blogs,

books, and literature.

• Take part in the ministry of being "Present" through: visitation, peer

counselling, and relationship building of students in the ministry.

• This list above is not exhaustive, there will also be other Student ministry

tasks, events, responsibilities duties that are not listed, but will need your

attention, planning, and execution. Therefore a heart that is willing to serve

God by serving people is what we are after.

Accountability • Report directly to Student Pastor, and when Student Pastor is not available, report to

Elder of Student Ministry then Student Ministry Committee (SMC).

• Accountable with Student Pastor through regular mentoring meetings, journals, and

team meetings.

• Student Pastor will train the candidate in Bible Study techniques. Leadership, Spiritual

formation, and personal devotions.

Character: • A devoted disciple of Jesus Christ who is seeking to grow in their spiritual walk and

journey with God.

• Seeks to make an impact by loving God and loving others.

• A desire to encourage people to engage in a life transforming relationship to God in

Jesus Christ.

• Desires to develop others.

• Healthy spiritually, physically and emotionally.

• Have a Missionary heart for students and Student ministry.

• Have a steady and healthy daily walk with the Lord in devotion, and biblical study.

• Teachable, Humble, carries an attitude of: selflessness, and servant hood.

• Gets excited by ministry, not drained.

• Sees the Good in people. Sees the cup as Yi ful l , not Yt empty.

• Optimistic and positive person - not a grudge, not a complainer.

• Can see God in everyday theology as well.

• Life learner - never stops learning.

• Missional mind-set, willing to hang out with students of all backgrounds to build and

foster relationships.

• Humility - Servant leadership.

Chemistry: • Able to work with other pastoral staff, interns, and church volunteers.

• Able to work in a church that is multi-cultural/language/generational.

• A team player, no "1" in Team.

• Creativity: Fulfilling a need from a new perspective. Willing to try new things, and get

out from comfort zone - flexible.

• Believes in the values and direction of MCAC's student ministry: To help our students

own their own faith.

• Able to promote the ministry and be a strong passionate advocate for it.

• Relationships, Relationships, Relationships.

Competence: • Able to lead a proper Bible Study (in correct context with postmodern student

application).

• Able to plan events with little supervision.

• Able to lead a planning committee and volunteers.

• Able to speak to large groups in publically with excellence.

• An excellent communicator both orally, and written.

• Able to use computer software: Microsoft Office, and Publisher.

• Able to work OVER and BEYOND expected hours when needed due to deadlines, and

repeating milestones.

• Has the spiritual gifting of Leadership.

• An individual that has past proven experience in Student Ministry Leadership in a church

setting.

• Know how to share the full Gospel message to unbelievers. Know simple apologetics.
