wELCOmE TO ThE 2014 ShEppARTON FESTIVALWelcome to the 2014 SheppARTon Festival: Dream Voices. Our team of enthusiastic and dedicated, volunteer-board members are proud to present a myriad of exciting events throughout the month of March. There is something for everyone with many free events, for all ages and interests.
The SheppARTon Festival relies on the generosity of its supporters and sponsors.
The Greater Shepparton City Council is our major supporter providing ongoing assistance particularly via the Arts, Events and Tourism Department. We are also pleased to partner again with La Trobe University, which provides the perfect relationship for us to build cultural capital in our region.
There are numerous other sponsors who give personally or from their businesses. These sponsors provide a major portion of our funding and we applaud them for their generous investment in local entertainment and the arts. They are helping to make Greater Shepparton an even better place to live.
I sincerely hope you enjoy the rich program we have put together for the 2014 SheppARTon Festival: Dream Voices.

La Trobe University is pleased to partner with the SheppARTon Festival in supporting a range of creative and vibrant events, some of which will be held at the University’s state-of-the-art Campus in Fryers Street.
The University has a fundamental objective of providing a quality higher education opportunity in northern metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria, and the Shepparton Campus
is playing a vital role in meeting our commitment to growth on all campuses. Indeed, the most recently available data (2012) confirmed that La Trobe University is the leading higher education provider in regional Victoria with 22% of Victoria’s regional student enrolments.
La Trobe has also recently been confirmed as one of the nation’s leading research universities - third in Victoria - based on the Excellence in Research Australia (ERA) 2012 Report.
In our new Strategic Plan (“Future Ready”), the University has made a clear commitment to increasing significantly its external engagement, consultation about locally relevant courses and community support.
The arts are a vital component of thriving communities and La Trobe University is proud to support visual and performing arts in regional Victoria through educational programs, research and the sponsorship of awards, public lecture series, events and exhibitions.
A very clear indication of the University’s support for the arts and for regional Victoria was the establishment in 2013 of the La Trobe Art Institute, the objective of which is to become Australia’s leading regional arts institution. The Institute will lead the development of regional arts in Victoria by coordinating regional arts training, promoting regional arts and advocating for regional arts employment and development.
I am delighted to wish the people of Shepparton and surrounding regions an enjoyable experience through the exciting and diverse program of culture and arts offered by the 2014 SheppARTon Festival.
