Mission Statement

The Children Deserve a Chance Foundation is a non-profit focused on ending the

generational cycle of poverty through both programs of its own and the support of

other non-profit organizations. The mission of CDCF is to provide a holistic

approach in assisting urban public schools keep their students engaged and

optimistic about their futures.

Who we are

Children Deserve a Chance Foundation is a

nonprofit organization designed to enhance the

lives of adolescent students facing adversity,

providing them the resources and guidance

they need to achieve their academic and

personal goals.

The main goal of the foundation is to help

students go to and complete college while

teaching them the fundamentals needed to

succeed in their lives.

The foundation accomplishes this through their

Programs, and through the academic

scholarships awarded to deserving students

each year.

Children Deserve a Chance has produced

outstanding results and has grown into a

foundation that is unlike others of its kind.

HistoryIn 2004, In the weeks leading up to

Jordan’s 1000th point of his

basketball career, he organized a

fundraiser that raised enough money

to pay for a fellow student suffering

from Epilepsy

Jordan Steffy created the Children

Deserve a Chance Foundation

(CDCF) by organizing a team of like-

minded individuals who shared the

same vision to enrich and nurture the

development of children by giving

them new, stable, and evolving

chances in life

2006, the main component of CDCF

was created, the BowTie Program.

Programs

BowTie Program

• ACADEMICS: Twice a week lab study hours, minimum 3.0 GPA expectation,

Literacy enhancement program completion of Achieve 3000.

• ENTREPRENEURSHIP: BowTie on tour once a week to visit local businesses

and entrepreneurship projects such as Shark Tank.

• MENTORING: Mentors primarily guide students in academics, but also in their

extracurricular activities, personal character and every day life challenges ranging

from school to home.

Sunrise

This 6-week program serves as a trial period, allowing

students to demonstrate that they are dedicated to the

program, their own education, and their futures.• For 6 weeks, three times a week prior to school.

• Lesson plans revolve around the Six Pillars: Strong Mind, Compete, Resiliency,

Accountability, Sacrifice and Finish Strong.

• The 6 pillars are used in conjunction with the challenge of solving the Rubik’s

Cube.

Scholar

• The curriculum is tailored to each student’s specific needs and interests keeping them engaged and allowing them to learn more effectively.

• Continued exposure to the collegiate mindset and college environments.

• CDCF organizes several other activities on a weekly basis that gives students exposure to many different industries and career paths.

• Also, 50% of the staff is either black or Hispanic and has come from a similar upbringing as the students.

Financial Outlook

CDCF is currently funded entirely by

private donors, which leaves ample

room for alternative funding

opportunities such as grants.

CDCF continues to operate

efficiently each year on zero debt

Has successfully increased its

revenue each year.

community to assist with sponsoring

major operating expenses.
