Lanakila Ka Ohana I Ke alaka'ina O Ke Aloha Makamae (Our Family Is Successful As We Are Guided By And Radiate With Love)
Our biggest event of the year—the2011 Annual Meeting andDinner—was held on Saturday, April 2at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Asalways, it was an exciting and funfilled evening for all who attended.
The evening started out at ourbusiness meeting, where memberswere told how well the Credit Unionwas doing. It was also announcedthat Deborah Lau Okamura andWanda Beppu had been elected to fillthe two vacancies on the Board ofDirectors. At the end of the meeting,it was time for the ever-popular doorprizes. Lucky winners walked awaywith iPods, gift cards to popular storesand restaurants, and our grand prize—a trip for two to fabulous Las Vegas!
Shortly afterward, it was time fordinner in the Tapa Ballroom. Oursumptuous meal included CurryShrimp with Fried Haupia, SteamedSea Bass Filet with Chili Sauce, andBeef with Hoisin Sauce, and wascapped off with a wonderfully
refreshing Lychee Sorbet for dessert.
Augie Tulba then took the stage andquickly had the crowd in stitches. Hishumorous “observations” on texting,GPS-assisted driving in Hawaii, and hisstint on Hawaii 5-0 as a helicopterpilot showed once again why he isHawaii’s most popular stand-upcomedian.
Next up was Nesian N.I.N.E. whowowed the audience with theirsmooth mix of soulful oldies andreggae-tinged originals. There waseven an outbreak of spontaneousdancing by the stage near the end oftheir show.
The dancing continued, withattendees “getting their groove on” tothe sounds and lights provided byMystical Sounds and their amazingmobile disco.
A big mahalo to all who joined in thecelebration. Hope to see you nextyear!
