The role of the Planning Council is to: • Review proposals reflecting new initiatives from the Planning Council committees.
• Synthesize and prioritize the committee proposals and make recommendations to the President and the President’s Cabinet.

The Committee’s Purpose & Charge
*Under the direction of the Planning Council, the Administrative Unit Review Committee will evaluate, through a transparent process the strengths, challenges, opportunities, and best practices for each unit as it relates to the College mission and strategic plan. The Committee will support the development of learning outcomes for the units reviewed as a means for ensuring that services provided support student development/learning. Additionally, the Committee will make recommendations to the units and Planning Council and provide a mechanism for monitoring change and improvement between periods of review.

Committee will promote an institutional culture that values and supports excellence and maximizes individual and organizational learning. The Committee makes recommendations to the Planning Council that nurture a stimulating learning and work environment for all members of the College Community.
The Committee recognizes and encourages student involvement in co-curricular learning opportunities that support the development of interpersonal communication, cultural literacy, and social responsibility. Students who engage in these activities are exposed to skills, practices, and behaviors that reflect the vision, mission and values of
Daytona State College.

Under the direction of the Planning Council, the Enrollment Development Committee will study, analyze and make recommendations to the Council regarding comprehensive College-wide enrollment and retention plans, College enrollment, and campus enrollment activities.

Under the direction of the Planning Council, the Faculty and Staff Development Committee will work to ensure quality professional development opportunities for all employees, placing particular emphasis on compliance with SACS Comprehensive Standard 3.7.3 (Faculty Development) and 3.9.3 (Qualified Staff).

* Under the direction of the Planning Council, the Institutional Advancement Committee will study, analyze and make recommendations to the Council for improvement of the College’s fund-raising, development, institutional relations, alumni affairs activities, and marking/public relations activities.

Under the direction of the Planning Council, the Instructional Program Review Committee will study and analyze programs in order to make recommendations to the Council for the improvement of instructional programs based on the results of periodic program reviews.

* Under the direction of the Planning Council, the Operational Effectiveness and Accountability Committee will study, analyze, and make recommendations to the Council regarding efficiency and accountability at the College.

Under the direction of the Planning Council, the Strategic Planning and Assessment Committee will study, analyze, and make recommendations regarding the planning and evaluation process for the College and how this process is used to strengthen and enhance institutional effectiveness.

Under the direction of the Planning Council, the Teaching and Learning Committee will study, analyze, and make recommendations to the Council regarding curriculum and programmatic directions; which includes admission criteria, best practices, and innovation and related issues that serve to facilitate and enhance the teaching and learning process.

* Under the direction of the Planning Council, the Institutional Technology Committee will support all of the Planning Council’s subcommittee technology needs by reviewing, evaluating, and recommending technologies and strategies that will increase student learning, support faculty in enhancing classroom instruction, and by supporting staff with administrative and student services duties. Additionally, the Committee will collaborate and act as a liaison with the College Information Technology department of help disseminate information and knowledge throughout the College community.
Support Provided by Human Resources
The Office of Human Resources supports PlanningCouncil initiatives by serving as a reference for thedevelopment of committee proposals that aim to identify a new position. The Office of Human Resources will collaborate with committee Co-Chairsto ensure the accuracy of each proposal that impactshuman resources.
