Welcome to the Festival!
It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the sixth annual National Orchestra Festival® (NOF) sponsored by The Potter Violin Company. The 009 NOF brings together 5 spectacular ensembles representing 4 schools from across the United States. Congratulations on your hard work and accomplishment for being accepted into ASTA’s premier festival.
The NOF is proud to present some of the nation’s finest music educators as our adjudicators and clinicians. Each group will receive taped and written comments, as well as a rating by each of the three concert adjudicators. Following the concert, our highly qualified clinicians will provide each group with a clinic designed to enhance their music making abilities. In addition, each orchestra will have the opportunity during the conference to work with master class clinicians. These clinicians have national and international reputations as musicians and teachers. ASTA is committed to delivering the highest artistic and educational experience to its members and their students. We are certain that the 009 NOF will meet that goal!
In the words of Leonard Bernstein: “There are feelings so deep and special, that we have no words for them, that’s where music is especially marvelous. Music names those feelings for us, only in notes instead of words.” This is the underlying theme of the NOF. If you play your best, and express those special feelings through your music, each group will leave Atlanta a winner!
Sincerely, Kathleen D. Brungard Organizing Chair
