Step 3- Set goals for your school. Use school enrollment reports to estimate a number of eligible students. Create a HSVR Drive schedule for students

to register in class.

Step 4-Conducting the HSVR Drive Daily Activities for Student Coordinators

All forms must use black or blue ink – No pencils or red ink. At the end of the day – get a voter registration total. This will

allow you to see how close you are to reaching your goal. Complete the HSVR student report form provided.

Separate the forms and count how many students are registered by political party affiliation.

If any of the information on the form is missing – use your master class schedule to locate the student to complete the missing information.

Keep a running total. Make sure all completed forms are stored in a safe place.

Remind the students to check the (3) boxes at the top of the form.

Complete the voter registration drive results form. (blue form)

The faculty sponsor will (pony) all forms (bundled) in pony envelope to Dr. Louise Ball by May 1, 2009. DO NOT MAIL THE FORMS THROUGH US POSTAL SERVICE!!!!

Private schools should drop off their forms to the main office by May 1, 2009.

Make an announcement on how many registrations your school completed.

Incomplete & Outdated Voter Registration Forms

Please discontinue the use of old voter registration forms.

In 2008, our office received a lot of incomplete forms from various high schools. Please look over the forms before you turn them. Line #6 is the most commonly missed field.

Election Information

Three Different Ways to Vote Absentee Ballots- Voters may call, fax, or

email an absentee ballot request. A paper ballot may be mailed to any location in the world. This is a great way to vote for college students!

Early Voting- Voters may vote in any of our 16 locations 15 days prior the election date.

At the Polls- Voters may vote at their designated polling place on Election Day.

BROWARD COUNTY VOTERS VOTE ON A PAPER BALLOT VOTING SYSTEM USING THE DS200 OPTICAL SCAN MACHINE.

ONLY THE VOTER IS ALLOWED TO TOUCH THEIR BALLOT.

VOTER WILL NOT RECEIVE A ‘PAPER RECEIPT’. A VOTER’S BALLOT IS THE ‘PAPER TRAIL’.

ON ELECTION DAY, FROM 7 AM – 7 PM, A VOTER CAN DROP OFF THEIR ABSENTEE BALLOT AT THE MAIN ELECTIONS OFFICE ONLY -115 S. ANDREWS AVE. RM 102, FORT LAUDERDALE, FL 33301. ABSENTEE BALLOTS CANNOT BE ACCEPTED AT ANY PRECINCT.

A VOTER MAY WEAR CAMPAIGN PARAPHERNELIA TO VOTE, HOWEVER, THEY CANNOT LINGER OR PROMOTE THEIR CANDIDATE INSIDE THE POLLING PLACE, BUT THEY CAN VOTE.

How can I find out if I am registered and/or more information about voting?Call our office 954-357-7050 or log on to www.browardsoe.org

How long does it take to get my voter information card in the mail?Two to three weeks.

Do I need my voter card in order to vote?No, voter cards let you know that you have successfully registered to vote. They contain information for where you will vote on Election Day and a phone number for our office if you have any questions. Voter Cards are NOT required in order to vote.

Who am I voting for? Public elected officials such as president, senator, governor,

school board members, and city/county commissioner.

When is the next Election?November 3, 2009 Municipal Elections

I am a student. Can I register to vote at my college address?YES, you have the right to register to vote at your school address, this includes a dorm room. Any student living in a dorm is entitled to the same rights as any other student. To imply otherwise is illegal. If you receive mail in a Post Office box you can sign an affidavit (or, in some cases, get a letter from your college's Residential Life office) asserting that you live at your dorm address. F.S. 97.0583
