•In math, we use many different hand-on activities and manipulatives to help the children gain a concrete foundation for math concepts. We do not do many worksheets!

•AMSTI Science modules include Trees, Weather, Living Things, and Balls and Ramps

Formal math assessments are given four

times a year, but monitored

throughout the year.

Things you should know and what you can expect!

• A Six Week Progress Report will be sent home in September. Then Progress Reports will come home every four weeks.

•Report Cards will be sent home every nine weeks.

•Please keep all Progress Reports and Report Cards at home.

•Not all curriculum objectives and skills will appear on the Report Card. Specific objectives and skills, which have been shown to be indicators of success in first grade, will appear on the Report Card.

What will be included on the Reports?

The Nine Week Report will include:

The focus skills studied during that nine weeks as well as the skills from the previous nine weeks.

All Skills will appear on the final report card.

Understanding Reports• Kindergarten Report Cards do not reflect letter grades given on assignments. Instead, the letters 3, 2, and 1 show student progress made on skills to be mastered by the end of the Kindergarten year.

3= Consistently meets expectations

2= Progressing towards expectations

1= Does not meet expectations

What to Expect from Reports

• Not much will change between Nine Week Reports and Three Week reports. Look for gradual change over the year.

• Remember that Kindergarten Report Cards DO NOT reflect grades given on assignments, so an 3 is not equivalent to an A+.

• 2 will be the most common, because it indicates that your child is making appropriate progress. An 3 will not appear until your child is consistently showing mastery of a skill. Details of progress will be communicated through parent/teacher conferences.

Conferences are typically held twice a year; however, teachers and parents may see the need for additional conferences throughout

the year.

weeks then as needed; students are currently being taught how to use library and to take care of books

socks daily & girls need shorts underneath skirts

Field Trip – one a year; Oct. 31st to Tate Farms all parents please provide own transportation and pay at the farm

and Fridays! Birthdays – You can buy ice cream for
