1990s Movies

Pretty Woman 1990

It was a modern day fairy tale: A handsome prince (corporate raider) woos a fair maiden (street-smart call girl hired to pose as his girlfriend), and they fall in love. It officially kicked off the reign of America’s Sweetheart, Julia Roberts.

Home Alone 1990

An 8-year-old boy, Kevin McCallister, is accidentally left behind while his family flies to France for Christmas. Being home alone was fun for Kevin, having a pizza all to himself, jumping on his parents’ bed, and making a mess. Then he discovers two idiotic burglars, Harry and Marv, about to rob his house on Christmas Eve and must defend his home against them by wiring his house with makeshift booby traps.

Jurassic Park 1993

Huge advancements in scientific technology have enabled a mogul to create an island full of living dinosaurs. During a preview tour, a theme park suffers a major power breakdown that allows its cloned dinosaur exhibits to run amok.

Forrest Gump 1994

The epic story of a plain and simple man who found himself central to some of the 20th century’s most defining moments, from the civil rights movement to Watergate. It was the year’s top grossing film and earned six Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Actor.

Clueless 1995

A parody of Jane Austen's novel Emma. Cher, a popular girl who spends her days playing matchmaker, helping friends with designer fashion choices, advising the new girl at school on a makeover, and looking for a boyfriend.

Titanic 1997

The tale of star-cross lovers aboard an ill-fated ocean liner managed to leave all previous blockbusters in its wake – from its $200 million plus final budget to its 17 million gallon special-effects water tank to its record-breaking box office receipts.

1990s TV Shows

Full House 1987-1995

A sports broadcaster later turned morning talk show host, Danny Tanner, raises his three daughters, D.J. (Donna Jo), Stephanie, and Michelle, in a house he shares with two adult male friends, his brother-in-law Jesse Katsopolis, and his comedian best friend Joey Gladstone.

Seinfeld 1989-1998 A show about four single

neurotic New Yorkers who, for nine seasons, skewered the dating scene, trashed the workplace, and punctured political correctness.

The show features Jerry and his friends and acquaintances, particularly best friend George Costanza, former girlfriend Elaine Benes, and quirky neighbor across the hall Cosmo Kramer.

Saved by the Bell 1989 - 1993

The show follows the exploits of six students and their years at Bayside High School in Palisades, California. While the series primarily showcases light-hearted comedic situations, it occasionally touches on serious social issues, such as drug use, driving under the influence, homelessness, divorce, death, and environmental issues.

This made Saved by the Bell a precursor to later shows such as Beverly Hills 90210, Dawson’s Creek, and The O.C.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air 1990-1996 A poor, street-smart teen from

West Philly is exiled to live with his rich aunt and uncle in their wealthy Bel Air mansion after getting in a fight. Will Smith starred as the pauper in this culture-class comedy, where his lifestyle often clashes with that of his relatives, taking on poseurs and preppies, stereotypes and snobs.

Beverly Hills 90210 1990-2000 Never had TV

teenagers been so rich of so well-coiffed before. These eight pals ruled sunny West Beverly High, complete with love triangles, angst, and drama.

Home Improvement 1991-1999 One of the most watched sitcoms

in the 1990s, this show focused on the daily trials and tribulations of Tim Taylor, a TV show host raising three mischievous boys with help from his loyal co-host Al, domineering wife Jill, and genius neighbor Wilson. The show’s humor often revolves around cars, toys, tools, hardware shops, garages, and fix-it-up projects.

Boy Meets World 1993-2000

Adolescent Cory Matthews and his best friend Shawn, and Cory's girlfriend Topanga attempt to survive the trials of middle school and high school, along with the help of the George Feeny, the high-school principal and Cory's next-door neighbor.

Frasier 1993-2004 Boston Psychiatrist, Frasier Crane,

last seen gracing the bars of Cheers, has left his life there to start afresh in Seattle. He now has a spot as a popular radio Psychiatrist, giving him the chance to spread words of wit and wisdom to the masses. He shares his apartment with his retired cop father, Martin, and his father's physical care assistant, Daphne Moon. Add in brother Niles, Eddie the dog, some bizarre situations and plenty of humor and you've got all the ingredients for an excellent show and worthy successor to Cheers.

Friends 1994-2004

The beloved sitcom introduced us to Ross and Rachel, Smelly Cat, “How you doin’?” and six future superstars who started out splashing each other in a fountain and went on to collect the highest per-episode paycheck of any cast in TV history ($1 million each).
