Principal’s Message
Welcome back to students and families!
Term four is always a busy term for our school with orientation activities, excursions, school
swimming, special assemblies and our end of year presentation and concert.
I would like to extend an invitation to all grandparents in our community to afternoon tea,
followed by our school assembly next Thursday, 25 October. The afternoon tea will commence
at 2.00pm. The assembly will commence at 2.30pm.
Regards
Pauline Houghton
Earn & Learn
Thank you to families for contributing to the ‘Earn and Learn ’project earlier this year. The
school received the following sporting resources; team shirts, handballs, soccer balls,
basketballs and place ribbons, which have been much appreciated by students and staff.
Thank you to Bronwyn for organising this event, which involved collecting the receipts from the
Coles store, as well as many hours collating the receipts.
Change of staff
I would like to acknowledge the contribution of Mrs
Lovejoy to the school in teaching music across all classes
throughout this year. Due to her commitments with her
private business in teaching music, she is unable to
continue at our school. We will miss her expertise in
working with the students as well as her friendly manner in
being part of our staff.

Student Transport Scheme
School student applications for 2019 open from Monday, 15 October 2018. Students
progressing to year 3 and year 7 do not need to re-apply if they:
are continuing at the same school
are residing at the same address
have not been sent an expiry notification from Transport for NSW.
Where a student meets the new distance eligibility, the system will automatically update their
entitlement. If they do not meet the new eligibility, they will receive an expiry notification.
Students who have an entitlement approved under a medical condition which is due to expire
will receive a notification advising them to re-apply. Term Bus Pass holders will receive a
notification to re-apply.
If students need to update their information or re-apply, they should go online
to https://apps.transport.nsw.gov.au/ssts/updateDetails
Applications need to be submitted before 31 December 2018 to ensure student entitlements
are updated and their current entitlement/card is not cancelled. If their application is
submitted after 31 December 2018, the system will automatically cancel a card and a new one
will need to be issued. Students residing in Rural and Regional (R&R) areas should receive their
travel pass at the commencement of the new school year from their nominated
operator. Note: some R&R operators do not issue travel passes. Students should check with
their operator for more information.

A Bonfire that just keeps on giving
A highlight of Monday night’s P&C Meeting came from the Correspondence In section of the
agenda. This took the form of the letter below from the Lismore Lions. It was accompanied by a

cheque for $500 (profit from sales at the Chip Van). We are amazingly lucky to enjoy this sort of
community support.
On a somewhat more mundane note, if you can’t find a container that is usually in your kitchen
at home it may be on the bench in the kitchen at school! A number of items seem to be
leftover from the bonfire. Please collect these so you have them for next year.
