Welcome to South Aiken Presbyterian Church! We are glad that
you are here this morning to join us in offering a service of
worship to the Lord. We believe all people are children of God.
We believe that the redeeming grace of God can bring each of us
into a new day. We believe all people are loved with a love that
has no end in Jesus Christ. Today, may our eyes be opened
again to these truths. May the blessings of joy and hope that can
only come from the nearer presence of God fill each of our
hearts. Let us worship God!
PLEASE NOTE: Please silence your phone dur ing the service. If needed, large print hymnals and sound
amplification devices are available in the Narthex. Please see an usher for assistance in obtaining these items.
NURSERY AND CHILDREN
Infants and toddlers are welcome in our nursery during both of our worship services and during our 10:00 a.m.
Sunday school hour. The nursery is located on the north side of the SAPC building complex. To find it,
please exit the front (main) entrance to the sanctuary and turn left. You will see a sign for the nursery at the
door on the side of the next building.
Children are invited either to remain in the sanctuary for the worship services or to go to the nursery at their
parents’ discretion. For those children who remain for the services, worship activity bags are available and
may be picked up near the doors as you enter the sanctuary. Bags are available for both older children (ages 7-
12 - blue handle) and younger children (ages 3-6 - purple handle). During today’s 11:00 a.m. service, children
ages 3 years through 5K are welcome to participate in our Children’s Church program, which follows the
Moment with Children. Chaperones will escort the children from the sanctuary to the fellowship hall for the
program. You may pick your children up in the fellowship hall after the service. If you need assistance of
any kind, please see an usher.

GATHERING AROUND THE WORD
*Call to Worship (Psalm 14) (Responsive)
One: Fools say in their hearts, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds; there is
no one who does good.
All: The LORD looks down from heaven on humankind to see if there are any who are wise, who
seek after God.
One: They have all gone astray, they are all alike perverse;
All: there is no one who does good, no, not one.
*Prayer of the Day (Unison)
Gracious God, you alone we worship and adore. You alone we order our life to be the witnesses to the
resurrection of Jesus Christ. May all our singing, all our thinking, and all our doing point to a life that
loves the Lord our God with all our hearts, with all our minds, and with all of ourselves. In Christ’s
name we pray, Amen.
*Hymn #260 Alleluia! Sing to Jesus
*Call to Confession (Unison)
Gracious God, we confess that you welcome all people, but we only welcome those who are like us.
You shared your bread with “sinners,” but we share ours only with family we know. Help us to
extend our table like you do. O God, give us the gift of repentance through Jesus Christ our Lord ...
(In silence, confess your personal sins.)
One: Amen.
*Assurance of Pardon (Responsive)
One: Hear the Good News! Who is in a position to condemn?
All: Only Christ! Christ died for us, Christ rose for us, Christ reigns in power for us, Christ prays
for us.
One: Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation, the old life is gone, the new has begun. Know that you
are forgiven and be at peace.
All: Amen.
*The Gloria Patri Hymnal Page 581
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, amen.

*Passing of the Peace (Responsive) (11:00)
One: Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us forgive one another. The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ
be with you all.
All: And also with you.
One: Let us give signs of welcome, reconciliation, and peace with one another.

*Affirmation of Faith: The Apostles’ Creed (Traditional) (Unison)
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;
he descended into hell;
the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
And sitteth on the right hand
Of God the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
5
I believe in the Holy Ghost;
the holy catholic church;
the communion of saints;
the forgiveness of sins;
the resurrection of the body;
and the life everlasting. Amen.

*Doxology
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
praise him, all creatures here below;
praise him above, ye heavenly host;
praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
*Prayer of Dedication & The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors;
and lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power,
and the glory forever. Amen.

An Invitation to All Presbyterian Women
As summer comes to an end and fall activities resume, we want to make sure you know of two fellowship-
building opportunities available to all women. We have two active circles at SAPC that would love to have
more members. Our Sonshine Circle meets at the church the first Tuesday of each month from September
through May at 10:00 a.m. This circle uses the Horizons Bible study, which in 2019-2020 will take a fresh
look a the Ten Commandments. The contact for the Sonshine Circle is Alice Kierspe. Our second circle is
the Angels in Training Circle. It meets the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. for a short devotional
and an evening out. The contact for the Angels in Training Circle is Lynn Burkes. Both circles support a
variety of community organizations as selected by the members. We look forward to seeing you at the
circle meeting of your choice.
