MODE 1600 JELLY ROLL LAP QUILT

Start with a fresh Jelly Roll

Cut the selvages off

Mix your jelly roll up. If you don’t do this you will find yourself

having large “blocks” of color in your quilt.

Sew your strips together end-to-end. This will make one long strip

that is 1600 inches long. At this point, I pressed my seams open.

Trim the first 18” from your long strip. This will help randomize

were your seams are placed when making your laps.

First Lap: Now, take the ends of your strip place them together

with right sides together and sew a ¼” seam across the top.

Here is a picture of the beginning and ending of my strip. The

“end“ is where your fold will be.

Take your scissors and cut your fold open. I found it helpful to

end my stitching 1/4” from the end so that I could slip my

scissors in to cut.

Second Lap: Your strip should now be 800” long. Place your

ends together and sew down the edge again. When finished cut

your fold.

*Repeat this step for laps 3-5

I used my ¼” foot for all of my seams. This is the second lap.

Press all of your seams in one direction.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! You have completed your laps and your reward is a beautiful quilt top.
