15 Steps

To Becoming a Better Salesperson

Sales reps should always be looking to improve their game, and never be satisfied with the status quo. This list offers key steps to becoming the best

possible salesperson.

1. Be a Critical Thinker

The best salespeople don’t rely on a script, but adapt their

sales pitch to each customer.

2. Be Disciplined

Having a disciplined work ethic will help in down times and

challenging sales cycles.

3. Be Charismatic

Sales reps with charisma have the ability to understand and connect with sales prospects.

4. Be Resourceful

Think beyond traditional sales methods and processes to reach potential customers.

5. Be Focused

Sales reps must concentrate on tasks without becoming

overwhelmed or distracted.

6. Be Competitive

Successful sales reps are competitive by nature, and constantly strive to be the

best.

7. Be Passionate

When reps are genuinely passionate about their product,

it will come through in conversation.

8. Be Curious

Curious people constantly learn more about their product and

their customers, in order to sell better.

9. Be Confident

The best salespeople truly believe in themselves, their company and are willing to

take risks.

10. Be Firm

Firm resolve will get sales reps through high pressure

situations and difficult sales cycles.

11. Be Persistent

Even the best reps hear “no” over and over again. Always try

again, even in the face of negativity.

12. Be Open-Minded

The best sales calls are when a rep talks less, and listens with an open mind to a prospect’s

problems.

13. Be Honest

Sales reps have to be honest about what they’re selling.

Lying to the customer always backfires.

14. Be Knowledgeable

Great sales reps are well-informed about their product, but also about the customer’s

pain points.

15. Be Communicative

Be clear and concise to communicate your best sales

pitch to prospective customers.
