Subject Questions: You want to know who/what does something.

Alice

Who ate my chocolate?

Alice did!

Object Questions: You want to know what someone did, or to whom/where/when.

Alice ate my chocolate.

What did Alice eat?

My chocolate.

A subject question asks about the subject of the sentence.Do NOT change the word order of the question.

ANSWER QUESTION

Gina is fixing the car.    Who is fixing the car?

An accident happened last night.

Who wrote Hamlet? Shakespeare wrote Hamlet.

We can also make SUBJECT QUESTIONS with: • WHAT: What happened? • WHICH: Which journey costs the most? • WHOSE: Whose journey takes two hours?

No auxiliary verb

Object questions You need an auxiliary verb (do, be, have ...) before the subject, and a main verb (go, make, think ...) after it.

Correct the mistakes in the following sentences

What did happen last nigh? Who the painting stole? Who did the house break into? What the police do? Who did go to prison? What the judge said? How long they spent in prison?

Write a question to the underlined words.
