  used to convert from unit to another unit.

  Example:   1 Little Cesar’s pizza = 8 slices

What are conversion factors?   We can show conversion factors as fractions:

1 Little Cesar’s pizza = 8 slices

1 pizza 8 slices

8 slices 1 pizza

or

Same thing, just flipped!

How are conversion factors used?   There is a 3-step process:

1.  Identify the starting and ending units. 2.  Pick a conversion factor that has the starting units

on the bottom and the ending units on the top. 3.  Multiply out.
